Graduation was everything I hoped for and more…. I never in my wildest dreams imagined I would feel the way I did.
The days before started were so crazzzzyy. I was so busy with finals and then there was readying and people arriving and getting ready, then we were there. I parted company with Chris and all and went on my happy way; I immediately ran into a friend from one of my classes, he is an older man who I convinced to take part of the ceremony. I told him and repeated to this to others, “you will never regret taking part of graduation, but you may regret not taking part.” When I saw him he immediately hugged me and thanked me for talking him into taking part, as did his wife. It was such a wonderful feeling to see how happy he was. I then walked into the building to line up in alphabetical order, we all joked that if we could not do this not only would we not graduate we had to go back to kindergarten. I immediately ran into my “adopted little brother” and found out he had won an amazing award. Well, I found out because he saw me and shouted it. It was very amusing as he gave me a giant hug and thanked me for everything I had done to help him, which included advice, slaps upside the head and reminders not to fly to so close to the sun.
At my appointed place in the hall we all joked and sweated, it was the hottest place in the building and for the record, black nylon does not breathe. When we started to walk outside we all grew very silent and as I stepped out, I saw the people, I heard the music and it all became very real, as chills ran down my spine I saw my family, blood and otherwise (you know who you are), my ohana.
