Duran, i know. i'm in almost the exact same boat. except that i've lost so much passion, that i don't even know if Jesus IS my savior. i've just given up thinking about it, and i guess you could call me agnostic now. but with the whole youth group thing, i agree. what those kids really need is more spirituality, and not just more people to hang with at church. He (the youth pastor that shall remain nameless) is focusing on quantity, not quality, and sometimes that works, but sometimes you need to switch to the other. i think it's time to switch to quality, and maybe next year, as an officer, i can help change that.
My advice would be to try to look for God in the simple things in life first and more especially in your own life. I know things go wrong for everyone but you do have a lot to be thankful for my friend and a lot to look forward to. Just remember that God is with you every second of your life, not only when you're looking at bible verses.

Hey Duran, I haven't talked to you in forever. Reading this entry really hits home for me. I'm not a very emotional person and I used to feel guilty when the emotional aspect of worship came into play, like during Chrysalis or even when we did "worship" acts or communion during UMYF. Now I've come to realize that although emotion can be an indicator of God's presence, you can't expect something so planned to produce an emotional reaction, which is what our youth director doesn't understand. I do not doubt your faith in the least, you are certainly dedicated to Christ even if you may be wondering why He isn't showing up or grabbing your attention. Remember that truth is not dependent upon emotion and God is holding you closer than you can ever imagine. I will be thinking of you and praying for you, and I hope you'll be thinking of us "little" kids who have the task ahead of us to try to overhaul our church and youth group. I hope we can catch up before you leave for college.
