Preview/character shots of the cosplays I have lined up so far for the coming year:
Haseo from .hack//G.U.
This is my main cosplay, the one I will be competing in alongside Ellipsis (including
l-a-n-g-e-r as my AIDA Atoli ♥). It's the one that will definitely get the most attention and will give me the most trouble, since it's the one I into which I'm putting the craziest investment. It's not so much the clothes and sewing part of the costume that's hard; it's the guns, the details, and the fact that I stupidly decided adding lights was a good idea. It's going to teach me a lot as far as more advanced construction.
Oh, and I get to figure out how to carve insulation foam over wire frames, plus...resin casting! Something I swore I would never do. My words sure are delicious sometimes.
Penelo from Final Fantasy XII and Linneus from
Teahouse.
Holly is doing an Ashe cosplay, so it made sense to make a costume from my second-favorite Final Fantasy (the first is FFVIII, but FFXII does come in a close second). I would truly love to do Fran or Mjrn, but Mandy's expressed interest in being our Frannie Butt and I'm really nervous about the helmet and breastplate after seeing Jaina Solo's sexy rendition of it, so uhh, yeah.
As for Linneus, I love him and will make no excuses. I'm not actually cosplaying this outfit; I'm doing an outfit from Chapter 3 that has a little less jewelry around the neck and a little more going on with the shirt, but Hyne, do I love this character and his angst. I'm excited to meet the creators of the comic while in cosplay. 8DDD
Still waiting for sewing machine to get back from the shop, though. In the meantime, you may notice that I redesigned my journal slightly. I had Atoli up top there for years and although I love her for introducing me to cosplay and to Ellipsis, it's time to move on and pull her from center stage. She's no longer my character. I liked this art of Haseo, Atoli, and Alkaid, plus I've been meaning to use Soul To Squeeze by the Red Hot Chili Peppers as my layout song forever. It was that or Can't Stop, but I preferred this.
Sadly, I had a Saiyuki layout all coded and designed way back in the day when Ellipsis performed our Saiyuki skit at Sakuracon two years ago, but I never used it and it feels kind of phony to use it now. It feels like I would be too busy craning my neck to see behind me when I need to be bouncing on my toes to see ahead, ya know?
Anyway. Now you can see what the hell it is I've gotten myself into.
