Ellipsis Cosplay won Best Novice in the Sakuracon Costume Contest this year. ♥
You know what that means, don't you? More fuel for my obsession with cosplay. Here's a preview pic so I don't inundate all y'all with cosplay photo porn. Hot, hot, cosplay porn of the non-explicit variety.
Group shot! This is one of the shots we got from Eurobeat Kasumi, who sent the others to Mandy today while we were at lunch. He wants to shoot us again at Fanime Con in San Jose this spring! ^__^ In the back row, L-R: Whit as Voldo, Ash/
momo as Tira, and Holly as Ashlotte. Front row, L-R: me as Setsuka, Mandy/
l_a_n_g_e_r as Seung Mi-Na, and Momo/
hazue as Cassandra.
Individual of Mandy, looking delicious and colorful.
Holly's Ashlotte makes my gears tick. Hurr hurr.
Ash's crazy as a coconut Tira.
Momo's boobs Cassandra cosplay.
Whit being a delightfully creepy Voldo.
And one of me being a little butterfly. XD In other words, Setsuka.
And one more group shot in which I really liked how sassafras my face is, and how the girls all look sexy and fierce:
Oh, and one of my Sophitia cosplay, done so I could be Momo's big sister for a day! ♥
I made this one in just a week. IRVY, LOOK AT YOUR LIFE. Never again.
That's all the photographic madness, but I can say without a doubt that I felt every moment of my hard work on Setsuka paying off. The hours and hours of painting? Yes. Hand sewing trim and hair ornaments? Yes. Slaving away to get that umbrella right? Yes, yes, yes. I think I speak for the entire group when I say it was worth the pain and aggravation, though there are some things we'll certainly be doing differently in the future. After all, we did spend a lot of time in the hotel room either finishing things or touching them up obsessively.
Next year is looking bright and we're bandying around some ideas for the competition cosplay. These include doing .hack//LINK, Magna Carta II, Granado Espada, Gankutsuou, and somebody mentioned Silent Hill, too. We're definitely going to try to do a floor cosplay of Soul Calibur V since we were so well-received in SCIV this year!
It's kind of sick that although I want a break from cosplay, I want nothing more than to instantly start on some projects for next year and for Fanime, which is at the end of May. At least we know we'll get photoshoots there! Plus, we're staying with Mandy's friend Lada, a well-known cosplayer who adores Mandy and is sure to give us lots of ins and outs and connections. Awwyeah.
In short: Sakuracon 2012 was the shit, Ellipsis Cosplay swept the board, and I'm feeling good.
