Another bonus to changing my major: classes for TechComm and things like econ and accounting are at far more reasonable times than the majority of my education classes. ^_^ You know, times that mean I can actually work, instead of signing my weekends away and catching random three-hour rush shifts to get my hours.
Today at work was great. I like days when I can alternate running the till and working the bar; I like getting more accustomed to handling rush orders and still making drinks well. It's been six months now that I've worked at Tully's and I'm getting good at handling drinks with speed and accuracy even during a rush. It's invigorating to know that I'm not just a dumb trainee-type anymore, that I'm a contributing employee who knows how to make all the drinks and who can do most everything. Plus, I like morning shifts because I can get them out of my way and continue with life.
It's why I think working in coffee is superior to retail. I hated going to class in the morning and then going to work till ten thirty or eleven at night. It's a pain in the ass. This is much easier. I'm always more awake and prepared for my classes, for one thing. And for another, it gets me on a semi-regular schedule for each day. I never wake up past nine unless I'm sick, even if I went to bed at three or four in the morning. I just find ways to catch up on the sleep later if I have to. It works well for me.
Last night with Ash and Manderz was fun, too! We didn't get to eat sushi like we wanted, but we ate Chinese and drank and were generally dorkwads in the restaurant. I'm glad there were no children seated near us. Sometimes, I think there should be an adults-only section of the restaurant that isn't along the bar. Mandy and I often ask to be moved away from kids if the hostess or host tries to seat us next to a family, for a few reasons. One being that kids are fucking annoying. It's my luck that the kids near me in a restaurant are always bratty kids who misbehave while their parents ignore their tantrums. Another reason being that I'm not going to censor myself to spare Little Bratleigh's ears the profanity, innuendo, and outuendos that spew from my dirty, rebellious mouth. Mandy's not gonna censor herself, either, though hers is less profanity and more being a raging lesbian. (Oh, I went there,
l-a-n-g-e-r. Whutwhut?! XD) So I've gone from accepting wherever they seat me to asking that we be seated somewhere else if kids are around.
Thank Hyne we went to the restaurant at the right hour to dodge family dining; it was all thirtysomethings and couples around us, and fuck if that bothers me to be swearing, hitting on Ash, touching Ash, drinking and being loud about Jedi Knights, and giggling with Mandy around those types. We had good food, good drinks, and good times, though one of these days, we're going to have to go to a club or something, because that experience has thus far eluded me, and I kinda feel robbed. It may have to wait till Manderz is twenty-one, though, since Ash-mos isn't much the clubbing/drinking type. Or I could just haul Julia along, or be hauled by her; she volunteered to be mine and Ash's DD if Mandy wasn't accompanying us.
But Mandy is a good DD. She drove Sandrock Custom for me and let me whine at her about turn signals. ^^6 Thanks, Miss Mandy!
And thanks, Ash, for letting us take you out! I say don't you know, you say you don't know, I say take me out. Bom-bom-ba-da-dum-bom-bom~
I have seen the future, and it's better than the Zero System. Ohyes.
