While I'm thinking about it: Yahoo! is closing down all Geocities free websites, so Zell and I have been considering getting a hosting package. Does anyone have a suggestion as to a domain registry/hosting service? Our basic criteria are: 1) reasonable price, as in under $6/month, 2) at least one email address for us to use, and 3) a decent amount of storage space, preferably over 100MB but of course we can't ask too much.
I hope we can find a hosting service and get our desired domain name registered, and not have to pay out the ass for it. Fingers crossed!
So far, we quite like
GoDaddy...so tell me what you think! ♥
(Warning: Sims ramblings on the starboard bow! Shake 'em off, Jim!)
My legacy founder in The Sims 2 magically, mystically, somehow cheated death three nights in a row when it was her time to die. Though she was eighty-three flippin' days old, she wouldn't die! She kept winning against Grim, every single time! Finally, my frustration mounting so high it was like a Martian volcano scraping the artificial Sim atmosphere, I spawned Rodney's Death Creator and had her die of old age, the way she would if she'd just kick the bucket properly! Her family flipped a fit, naturally, but I was fine with it. It sounds awful, but as attached as I was to Alcione (the founder), I was getting a bit tired of playing her. Plus, it was time to pass the torch to her son, who was her heir. I had four generations living under that one roof while she was still alive. There was Alcione, the heir Albireo and his husband Faro, then their heir, Reyner, and his husband Saturn. Finally, Reyner and Saturn had three kids, Vulcan, Etamin, and Romulus, and I was like, "This has got to end. And soon." Alcione joined her departed husband, Blair, in the newly-decorated family cemetery at the edge of the lot, and her portrait joined his on the Wall of Heirs I made in the family's game room.
Now I can get more Sims off the lot when Vulcan goes to college, as soon as he gets one more scholarship I've been pushing him towards, and slowly but surely, Albireo and Faro can enjoy their retirement unto death. And Saturn and Reyner can reach their LTWs so they can be perma-plat, like all their predecessors. And to think, I did all this without cheating! Okay, so I don't roll for aspirations, but I think that's a fair concession to make in a legacy. I don't want Sims who demonstrated a love of Knowledge as children to roll for something frivolous like Pleasure or Romance, the former of which is my absolute least favorite aspiration, hands down. I loathe it. I think its lack of high-scoring wants is infuriating, so I never, ever have Pleasure Sims unless I intend to use them for awful experiments. ¬_¬
Zelly's gonna vote for my heir soon, too, because Vulcan's a teen and Etamin and Romulus are children. I'm batting for Vulcan, but I'm sure she'll choose differently to be difficult. It's what she did with Albireo; she picked him over his brother, Mizar, whom I wanted to be the heir.
Having just one person decide your legacy heir is much simpler than bothering with the BBS on The Sims 2 website.
For once in my life, I have to open the store tomorrow - I know! It's crazy! - so I'd probably better go to bed, like, soon. Which means I'll be up at one AM, cursing my life and my shitty fate, but my intention is to go to bed by midnight so I can wake up at six thirty-ish. Boo. Even though we climbed Camel's Back again this evening, as exercise and in the vain hopes it might help tire me out, I'm sure I'll have to glue my eyelids shut to get a decent amount of sleep. That's how it always works.
"In Sleep we lie all naked and alone, in Sleep we are united at the heart of night and darkness, and we are strange and beautiful asleep; for we are dying the darkness and we know no death."
