So a few days after I did an all-day marathon of Firefly (which was my first exposure to the show) a few weeks ago, I ordered the DVDs. I got them on Monday and since then I've been showing several episodes each night to my parents, my brother, and my friend Jeff. All of them are absolutely in love with it. Jeff's told his girlfriend (out of town) about it and I'm sure they'll watch it together when he buys the DVDs. Tonight we watched a couple episodes at his parents' place and now his mom wants to buy the DVDs too!
It's great when you can share something great like this with people and they end up loving it just as much, and sharing it with others--who will then share it with others, and so on. It's like a virus, but in a good way. Not to be all egotistical or anything, but I figure that through me, Joss Whedon has already sold 5 more tickets to the upcoming Firefly movie, Serenity. I'd love to increase that number between now and April, because dammit, this is one of the best science fiction TV series of all time (THE best, in my opinion), and the movie deserves to do well enough to warrant sequels (the actors are apparently signed on for the possibility of a trilogy) and/or a continuation of the series on TV.
If you're reading this and you have not yet seen Firefly,
I strongly encourage you to rectify that immediately. Or, if you're tight with money, rent it or find someone who has it. I can't recommend this series enough.
