So I went to the Computer Show on Sunday. It wasn't that great, but I did pick up some OEM software, which is nice because it's legal, but cheaper than normal. Basically, none of the dealers who sell new systems and motherboards and stuff were there. :(
So,
karabean drove
vu13 and I all over creation looking for a computer. Thanks to a timely bonus from work, instead of a crap system I was trying to find something with an Athlon 64x2 3800+ CPU. That's a dual-core 64-bit processor, so I figure it might be good for a few years yet.
I finally found not one, but two such systems at Best Buy. I normally don't like Best Buy, but CompUSA has gone into the toilet over the last few years. They didn't even have ONE system like that.
Anyway, I bought the HP one, not because I like HP Pavillions, but because I was in a hurry and it had better features than the other one, which I think was a Gateway.
After that,
vu13 and I went to the Amherst common for some kind of geeky picnic thing. It was more like just people hanging out on the common and stuff, though
vu13 and a bunch of other people went and got food from Fatso's. I saw this bacon-cheese fries thing than
mhaille got and then wished I hadn't already eaten. There were some other poeple from the meetup on Friday, which was cool.
Realizing that I was turning RED, we left and came home. Then I set up my new computer and put its abilities to the test by playing
Galactic Civilizations 2, which I picked up on
aelana's recommendation. That was cool. Too cool. Addicting game.
Whee!!!!
