→ sehun isn't an optimistic person.

a/n: i wanted to delete it, but myunsoo said i should post it. it helped a bit with my writers block so thank you jenette, ahh!

he doesn’t know how long he’s been sitting there, but the rough wind coming from the sea is a bit freezing and sehun pulls his thin jacket tighter around his shivering body. his blonde bangs are constantly falling over his eyes and it’s getting annoying, but he doesn’t even bother to brush them away, the wind would blow them back there in a couple of seconds anyways.

instead, he reaches into the pocket of his jacket and pulls his phone out, looks at the display to see the time.

he’s here since almost two hours.

(and he’s not going to leave any time soon.)

sehun sighs and puts the phone back into his pocket, before going back to staring at the open sea. he would never admit it, but he’s waiting.

he’s still telling himself that he’s just here to get his mind off this stupid and unnecessary fight with jongin, but to be honest he just came here because he knows that jongin knows that he likes to come here after something happens.

and he’s taking way too long to come after him.

he starts drawing circles into the sand with his index finger, draws a face into the biggest one. the lips are curled upwards into a happy and cheerful smile.

sehun looks at it for a moment with a frown before he wipes away the face with his palm and draws a new one into the circle. this one has his lips downwards; it’s an unhappy face.

such a face fits a lot better right now.

he keeps drawing sad faces into the sand, not noticing the - from all the sounds around him muted - footsteps behind him until he hears someone quietly cursing. a faint trace of a smile tugs at Sehun’s lips, because jongin probably slipped in the sand, but it fades away as quickly as it came.

(he knows it’s jongin.

finally.

it really took him long enough.)

instead of looking at the other as he sits down next to him, sehun returns his gaze back to the sea. his fingers start playing with the worn out hem of his jacket.

he waits for a moment, just in case jongin wants to start speaking up first but he’s never been good with words. sehun neither, but he’s still a tad better than jongin.

“you know i’m not going to forgive you.”

“it’s my dream, sehun.”

i know.

sehun tries to ignore the desperate tone in jongin’s voice. he knows the other is frustrated because he refuses to understand this situation. but it’s not exactly like that, because sehun understands it. understanding is not the problem, it’s something quite different.

“i’m selfish”, he says and a small, sad smile rests on his lips, “i don’t want to let you live your dream without me by your side.”

jongin doesn’t say anything and sehun knew he wouldn’t.

instead he takes sehun’s hand and pulls it into his lap and for a moment sehun thinks about pulling away, but he can’t. he likes the way how jongin’s warm fingers curl themselves around his cold ones.

jongin’s skin is always warm, it’s nice.

“you’ll go there and you’ll forget about me.”

“this again? i already told you so many times, i could never forget you!”

sehun thinks he’s stupid to believe they could make it work that way.

having a long-distance relationship, this wouldn’t end well.

jongin will go away, to this school overseas and he’ll dance and live his dream together with new people and probably become famous; all without sehun with him. he’ll forget him while sehun will sit here in the sand and watch the sea for the rest of his life while thinking about everything he had with jongin.

there are other kids here, he has other friends as well even though he’s still a bit mad at baekhyun for leaving the town as well, but jongin is special.

he’s not just a normal friend.

so sehun can’t just let him go like that.

he can’t and doesn’t want to let him go away from here.

and he feels pathetic for being like this, because he knows how important this is for jongin and he’s ruining everything. he’s ruining this for jongin by making him feeling guilty about it.

he’s the one who shouldn’t be forgiven, not jongin.

another sigh escapes sehun’s mouth.

he’s so selfish.

his eyes wander to their intertwined hands and his throat goes dry, because they won’t be able to do this anymore after jongin leaves.

“we still have so much time left, we’ll be able to figure something out”, jongin says while tightening his grip on sehun’s hand and sehun finally gets himself to look up to him. there’s a hopeful and naïve glint in jongin’s eyes.

sehun starts to chew on his bottom lip and looks away again.

for him it doesn’t matter how hopeful or optimistic jongin is about this. it doesn’t matter how much time they still have left together, it’ll never be enough because he already knows how everything will end.

→ prince jongin gets a new toy.

there’s a small knock at the door and jongin curiously looks up as he allows the person outside to enter.

nobody disturbs him at this time of the day, usually, unless it’s something important.

“young prince”, the maid says and bows deeply in front of him, “maid taeyeon just came back from the town, uhm, with her younger brother.”

the maid quickly looks away from him, lowers her gaze to the ground and the way her cheeks start to burn in a flaming red reveals who this younger brother really is. but every younger brother of one of the maids that comes here is such a person, so it doesn’t matter anyway.

a playful grin appears on his lips. “then i should go and greet him properly, shouldn’t i?”

“he’s already waiting in your chambers, young prince.”

the maid leaves the room, after bowing again, and jongin follows her out of the room but takes the other direction to his bedroom.

he opens the door to his room and a boy with a mop of dark hair stands in the middle of it, looking at him with wide eyes before he hastily lowers his gaze to the floor.

his fingers start to twist and twirl the end of his worn out, old shirt and jongin walks towards him, stops right in front of him. he doesn’t look much younger than jongin himself, but he can clearly see that he’s one of the homeless and not wanted children of the town, living all alone on the streets.

“what’s your name?”, he asks, but doesn’t receive an answer.

the boy just continues staring at the ground.

“i asked you a question”, jongin says, his voice getting a bit louder and the boy flinches. “answer.”

he murmurs something, but jongin can’t understand a word, so he grabs the boys chin and forces him to look up at him.

they’re almost the same height as well.

“what’s your name?”

“s-sehun”, the boy says. “my name is sehun, young prince.”

“so sehun..”, jongin says slowly as he rubs his thumb up and down sehun’s cheek and he can’t help but to smirk when the other boy shudders and nervously runs his tongue over his lips.

he uses the moment to look over sehun’s face and notices how pretty he’d look without all the dirt covering his pale skin and sticking to his hair. this maid did a really good job with bringing him here, because he’s so much prettier than his fiancée, lady myun.

jongin also didn’t really like the other boys his maids brought in lately.

but sehun seems like a fine boy and he’d probably look really good after a bath and eating some food, in fresh clothes, maybe also with his hair pushed back. but he’d probably look even better tied up in jongin’s bed, twisting and moaning with pleasure in the silky bed sheets, so-

he just hopes that sehun won’t disappoint him.

but he’ll see that soon.

“do you want to stay here, sehun?”, he asks and brings them a bit closer together. or do you want to go back to living on the streets?

sehun doesn’t answer as well this time, thinking hard and looking conflicted, but then he slightly nods.

“but there is one condition for that.”

“which?”, sehun whispers and looks a bit frightened and nervous before he closes his eyes. jongin can feel his shaking breath against his lips and closes the small gap between them.

“look at me and nobody else."
