Last night Alison and I went to the
Robert Altman Retrospective at the IFC Center. They're showing 27 movies, his Tanner '88 miniseries, and the followup tv movie Tanner on Tanner over the course of eighteen days (til January 23.) Of course it would be nice to see his best-known films on the big screen; movies like MASH, Nashville, Short Cuts, and The Player. But I wanted to see new Altman movies I'd never seen before. So last night we caught the two-for-the-price-of-one
Vincent & Theo and
California Split (which only I stayed for since Alison was tired.) Both were excellent. I missed his first film, The Delinquents, which is unavailable I'm planning to see a few more as well, so if anyone's up for a movie or two, let me know. I'll probably be their either way.
