The socioeconomic reason for not evacuating was addressed on The Today Show this morning. They said it was important to remember that a lot of people didn't have the means to evacuate.

hopefully that will dampen the number of people who are blaming these people for the situation they're in. It's one thing to be critical of someone for stealing anything but necessities at a time like this, but ot blame someone for being stranded at their home is completely insensitive.

It's just sad that certain people can't look at census data and draw conclusions themselves. They don't believe anything unless a conservative news outlet makes the conclusion for them.

of course, everyone else is lying to promote their own agenda. The conservative media is the only one on the side of the average American.

Last year when the city ordered an evacuation, not only was there nowhere to go, but our vehicle was completely unreliable and the roads were at a complete standstill. It would have taken much too long to actually get anywhere, plus if our van broke down we'd be trapped on a highway instead of trapped in our home. And we had no money for gas.

Thank God nothing happened then, but honestly if I was still there now I probably would have stayed. Driving seemed more dangerous to us.
