a statement from his former life...

Oklahoma has undergone it's day-long transition from summer to winter. Hi winter, nice to finally see you! Too bad I can't get my heater to work. It was fixed today but it broke again today. Looks like it'll have to be fixed tomorrow, too ( Read more... )

yeah it seemed like it might have been a one-time thing for me. i don't care though, someday i'm gonna make all the girls who never went out with me jealous by being a famous, handsome rock star.

actually I was thinking... we should form an all-star band and get really famous and then right at the peak of our popularity all have a big falling out and go on to marginally successful solo careers. wanna?

i may not be good enough for an all star band but feel free to use that idea on some of the more talented artists you know.
all i'm really good for anymore is very basic folk/blues/bluegrass and maybe a little classic rock. If I got better at guitar and music theory i'd probably be pretty good at jazz improvisation and composition. my songwriting hasn't developed very much lately but that's going to change when i finally get some home recording equipment again - it's been almost a year since I lost my fourtrack and bought a broken 8 track that i couldn't get fixed. in that year i've mostly played acoustic and worked on my playing and singing - usually with old folk songs, bob dylan tunes, grateful dead, etc... and i've perfected my bluegrass 'whisky voice' - but I'm really ready to start writing and recording again. I've been drunk more days than not since I stopped being able to record music... but at least i've tried to make use of it.

Do you need a wacky lead guitar player? Since I'm manly just a singer in Syloken I would love to have a chance to just play some lead. I'm wanting to be involved in as many projects as possible when I get back. And as for getting famous and having a falling out I think that's a great idea!

Yeah actually a wacky lead guitar player is exactly what would compliment me as a semi-serious balladeer/ singer. You're gonna have to let me play a bluegrass tune for you sometime.... I'm kind of proud of my newfound whisky voice. and on that note i've been meaning to talk to C McD for a while now about picking banjo for me in a bluegrass project.

by the way I never told you this but Syloken was really impressive. Good stage show, great songs, seemed way too well-rehearsed to have been put together as quickly as I've heard it was.
