Why is ducky awake at 4:30 in the morning?

Because lack-of-maintenance man repaired the water problem by using cheap plastic pipes, and one of them blew up an hour ago, flooding the kitchen, the bathroom, and part of the bedroom, plus two bedroom closets. I spent the first fifteen minutes trying frantically to get hold of the landlord and the lack-of-maintenance man. The landlord lives in CA, maintenance guy lives in a weird place in his own mind, and thus, neither of them were available to take my calls. I could not even get to the water shutoff valve, because it is located in a closet in the corner of the kitchen behind the stove, and I was unable to get the stove pulled out to get to that closet. I called a local plumber, but they said they could not come without authorization from the landlord. I finally had to call the Fire Department, who will be charging my landlord for the visit to come and pull out the stove and turn off the water. I finally got hold of the landlord's mother after they left. She called the plumber, who won't be able to get here for another couple of hours. Since the stove is currently shoved into the back doorway, I can't even close the back door, but I don't think anyone will be able to get in past the stove, anyway, so I am going to go and try to grab a nap for an hour or so until the plumber gets here. The landlord's mother has also finally had it with Jim, the lack-of-maintenance man, and says she thinks it's time to fire him and put someone else on the payroll that will actually do the job correctly. Meanwhile, I have to go dig boxes out of my closet floor and make sure the things I have stored in them have not been damaged by the flood. I'll just rack it up to yet another complication in ducky's life. Hey, if the simplest things didn't get complicated, I guess life would be boring. Then again, I think I would be happy with boring, for a little while, anyway.
