I finally finished The Ionian Mission after leaving it to the side for a day or so. I immediately started reading Treason's Harbour since they follow one after the other. I'm currently, as in right this moment, looking up deed information for the fence dispute. I went to the Deed Recorder's office yesterday and enjoyed looking at the records probably more than I should have. There is something about the neatness of the it all; all the lovely big books with the copies of the deeds and what-not so carefully and logically arranged. Everything beyond 1973 can be got through the computer, but these records are totally old-school: the index is still a card catalog on the third floor and the actual records are bound in great enourmous tomes.
John is having his annual party tonight. Just like last year I went for five minutes, didn't see anyone I knew and came back home. I can sit here and listen to the DJ (Soft Cell's Tainted Love right at this second) and not have to deal with people I don't know.
