Today, Yoshie taught Eu Geen and I how to make anpan which is bread with red bean paste inside. It was surprisingly uncomplicated!! Maybe because Yoshie did all the measuring and mixing for the dough hehe. Actually I totally forgot the camera so I missed out on taking photos of the dough making process @_@
There's a lot of waiting involved, as once the dough is mixed it has to be left to ferment for 50 minutes. After that, once the red bean paste has been wrapped in the dough it has to be left for about another 50 minutes. It would be something to make when one has to putter around the house. Plus the baked buns can be frozen and kept for awhile. At the moment I'm a big fan of anything that can be frozen =p Also Yoshie said that the dough mixture can also be used to make amongst others sausage buns and cheese buns!!
After what seem like endless waiting finally we popped the buns into the oven and after 14 minutes *drum roll* freshly baked delicious anpan:
As expected freshly home made bread is still the best!! I'm definitely going to make a go at this recipe. Actually its all thanks to Yoshie that I have become more interested in cooking and baking. It also helps that she's a good teacher and has easy recipes to follow :-)
After we had finished making the anpan, since Yoshie had never tried fish head noodles, we went to this coffee shop near Eu Geen's office for lunch. We ordered fish head noodles, char keow teow and beef noodles. It was all delicious especially the beef noodles. We all shared the food so that everyone could try some of each and it was sort of like a food musical chair going on hehe.
