It's been a bit since I post last, it seems. The week has been a nice mix of crappy, terrible, and depressing.
Work has basically sucked all week long. I've been smashing my head against the same bug since last friday. I only managed to fix it yesterday. A week or two ago they organized us into "teams", which wouldn't be so bad, except it means me getting shifted around a bit. First I moved from what I was doing to a project for the team I was moved in to, then I was (presumably temporarily) moved off that team's project to work on some fixes for the current release we're trying to push out (which said bug was a part of).
My Wii bundle came as well. Normally this would be good news, except it turns out my monitor can't display the Wii's output, and the component->vga adapter isn't able to translate it properly. So I can't use my monitor. Well, partially annoyed and a bit impulsive I bought a 26" LCD T.V. from Amazon (Well, sold through amazon from another company).
Except, it turned out that I had mistakenly used a very old address as the shipping address. By very old, I mean an apartment in Rochester I have not lived in for close to 4 years. The company wasn't able to ship it to a different address and could only try canceling the order before it shipped. Except that didn't work.
The person I was communicating with over email suggested I meet the package on delivery and "Refuse" it. Smart woman. I (kindly) informed her that if that were an option, I would not need it shipped to another address in the first place, and that I am around 3,000 miles away from said address. Meeting it on delivery is not an option. Okay, so they put out an intercept for the package, and it's being shipped back to them. Hopefully they'll refund at least part of the money, or I'm out a fair chunk of change.
That, of course, still doesn't solve the lack of a display for the Wii. So, being more annoyed, frustrated, and probably more stupid, I bought a different T.V. This time a 32" LCD from NewEgg. It cost close to the same price as the one from amazon, so I guess that's not a bad deal.
Course, that's a lot of money I should have put toward a new computer. Bleh.
And, finally, it appears my bi-weekly d&d game is now officially dead. It's been on it's death throws for a couple months now. Various things kept coming up preventing us from gaming for a while. And even the couple times in the past month when we got together for the express purpose of gaming, we ended up doing other things, for various reasons.
I'm not really mad at any of the players. It's just frustrating. I almost feel it's my fault. That the game was kind of stalling a bit, and if it were more interesting it wouldn't have been such an issue.
Still, given that the main reason it finally died is that two of the players got jobs working at a ski resort on the weekends, that's basically that.
I need some kind of gaming. Although I'm mostly worried about just languishing in my apartment on weekends. I need to find a way to get out more.
