I feel that I should probably update.
The weekend consisted of trundling down to Oxford and having my birthday on Friday (thank you to everyone who sent me birthday greetings :-) ) which
dooferlad took the day off for, which was awfully nice of him. I got some spangly pressies, including Miyazaki DVDs and a
vaguely language geeking related book, which I'm really looking forward to reading. I also got a copy of Richard Foster's "Streams of Living Water", which is an interesting look at the different traditions in the Church. This may or may not help me to clarify my thinking about the various different styles of life that are around, but is at least food for thought.
On Saturday I went to the wedding of a good friend of mine from when I was in sixth form, which was really lovely. I ceilidhed fairly enthusiastically in the evening, and met someone who I had an email forwarded from around Easter about a DPhil in Oxford I would have loved to do, but had already accepted my place at Cambridge. She was really great and had a long natter about school and the county music service, as it turns out that her daughters go to my old school and are both also brass players. I also ran into someone I used to be in an orchestra with, which was very weird, but it was nice to see her.
Sunday was mostly driving over to Letchworth to drop off a load of James's stuff and see the new flat, which was very nice. Ali was great and came with me, which meant that I didn't get lost. However, she is also responsible for the fact that I now seem to really like Maroon 5. What's going on there then?!
On Monday we went shopping (I keep doing that! V bad! Have negative money!) and then I came back to Manchester.
Yesterday I invested in shiny shiny tech in the form of a Creative Jukebox Zen Xtra 30Gb. Soooo shiny. And I also bought myself some Sennheiser PX100s at the weekend, so all sounds lovely. This shopping was allowed though as it was birthday presentage. I also got my exam marks, which I was really disappointed with (the average for my June exams was over 10% less than that for my January ones) although most people will be highly unsympathetic so I won't go on about it.
Today I have been into town and taken some shopping from last week back (and I even managed not to spend more than I was refunded! Go me! I soooo need a job) and then went and stapled the church magazine together and had dinner at Louise's, which I really enjoyed.
So stuff has mostly been rather spangly. Hurray spangliness! On Sunday I move out of this house, ending the five year occupancy by 22SGI members and hangers on. Vaguely momentous. I'm blatantly going to forget stuff. And not be able to fit it in my car. Argh! So, as you can see, I'm still managing to find stuff to worry about.
I think that's about it for now. Sleeeeeepy :-)
