I'm so behind on the current TV watching it's not funny. But it's so fucking HOT there's not much to do except lie on the floor watching television. Thus.

Supernatural - 2.12 - Nightshifter

Now THAT is what I want from this show.

I've probably been one of SPN's harshest critics. I've always thought this is the one series that would benefit immensely of more narrative depth.

So far all I've seen was the plots being simplified to the point of predictability. Ooooo, Daddy Winchester will have to choose between revenging his wife or his kids' safety. Oooooo, Sam will have to choose between normal and Dean. Ooooo, Sam might be EVOL OMG [ZZzzzzzZZz]. Ooooo, Daddy told Dean he might have to kill Sammy [what's the opposite of "shocking"?]. Oooooo, the Demon is forming an Army for the Apocalypse-to-come and Sammy is the prime recruit [yeah, 'cause, you know, it was gonna be some random guest of the week but they decided to go with Sam since he's there already].

Let's see a show of hands for those who DIDN'T guess any of those things right from the Pilot?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

But this episode gives me a glimpse that a change in the show's dynamics might be coming -- a mytharc that doesn't look like it was stolen from Charmed nor copycatted from the X-Files. They've been hinting at this since the Linda Blair episode [though that episode has one of the worst endings EVER, WTF?], but now they've gone and made it interesting. The real world has caught up with the Winchesters and made things all more complex and fucked up and will you look at that, meaningful.

Though I won't be surprised if this was a one-of-a-kind super special episode, I just reallyREALLY hope they keep this up and don't go back to underestimating my intelligence. I like it when TV shows tell me I'm smart, and it is about fucking time Kripke & Co start doing it.

...

I made an edit to the free hosting + proxy servers post, because Mediafire has smarten up to my devious ways. Heh.

piracy yay!, tv: supernatural
