what would i liked to have been? everything you hate

Out of all the geek things done today in the world,
Polly and I win, because we left our bucolic suburban city across the bay and trekked all the way to downtown Rio *on a Friday evening* to watch Citizen Kane on the big screen.

:)

This was the first time I've seen it at a movie theatre and, at the risk of sounding like every obnoxious film student in the 'verse... DAMN. The things Orson Welles could do *at that time*, it's just uncanny. I still kinda think he was from the future. Or an alien. No, seriously.

[Apropos, watching Good Night & Good Luck and Citizen Kane in the same week makes for so much food for thought about journalism and information warfare and how the press makes the news instead of telling the news that I'm almost afraid I'm gonna write a frelling essay on it. *g*]

And because it's appropriate: The White Stripes - The Union Forever.

there is a man
a certain man
and for the poor you may be sure
that he'll do all he can
who is this one
whose favorite son
just by his action
has the traction magnets on the run
who likes to smoke
enjoys a joke
and wouldn't get a bit upset
if he were really broke
with wealth and fame
he's still the same
i'll bet you five
you're not alive
if you don't know his name

...

Etcetera:

1. Woooork work work work OMG so much work. But it's great, it's stimulating, it's exactly what I wanna do, so: YAY!

2. I'm finally caught up with both BSG and TWW, for the upcoming [I'm hoping] squee worthy episodes of tonight and Sunday. Further comments after aforementioned episodes have been watched.

3. I found Ed episodes on eMule, and I'm having A BLAST re-watching that show. I heart Tom Cavanagh very very much.

4. For the first time in about 4 years, today I ate something from McDonald's. And I didn't DIE or got sick or anything. Still think their cheese is HORRIBLE and the meat is processed worm, but we needed a meal and we had about 7 minutes to get it.

5. I really really REALLY wish all of you guys understood Portuguese right now. *g*
