Why I'm reccing this fic: Because meeting up with a happy F/K a couple of years down the line is, for me, the mental equivalent of a cup of rich hot chocolate and a warm flannel blanket after coming in from the bitter cold. And, like Fraser, I get off on Ray speaking Polish.
He raises his glass in a toast and drains it. I watch him swallow, watch his tongue come out to lick his lips. He's got a few lines around his eyes now, couple around his mouth, funny how they're there now and I never saw them coming, and it's not like they weren't there one day and then were there the next. Mine either, got more than he does now.

Why I'm reccing this fic: I love AUs, and I love explorations into the younger lives of the characters. Something about this story invokes long nights spent around a campfire absently scratching at mosquito bites while joking with other kids with whom you swore you'd be best friends for life.
"Where's home?" blurted Benton.
The other man's eyes widened for a moment. "Chicago," he replied. "You?"
"Tuktoyaktuk, currently," Ben said. "Though I've spent the last year at the RCMP training school in--"
"You gonna be a cop?" the fellow said, taking a step closer. The look in his eyes now was eager, almost--
--hungry.
"Yes," Benton said, when he could be sure of his voice.
The young man flashed him a smile full of perfect white American teeth, and Benton suppressed a gasp. "Great. Greatness," he said.
And quite suddenly, Benton decided he wanted to continue to do and say things which would make this man smile at him like that.

Why I'm reccing this fic: Ray taking care of a suddenly blind Fraser? Comfort and hotness for the win!
He got the door open, and Dief trotted inside. "C'mon in," he said, but Fraser was already striding confidently ahead of him, just on Dief's heels. Ray followed him in and shut the door behind him, so he was two steps away when Fraser tripped over the pile of dirty socks and shoes he'd left beside the couch.
"Whoa," Ray said, and leaped to grab Fraser's elbow, flailing wildly to hold them both upright. "Sorry. See what I mean?" He was still holding Fraser's elbow, and the leather jacket had slipped off Fraser's shoulders and onto the floor, leaving Fraser in nothing but the thin hospital things. Fraser's arm was warm beneath his hand, so warm he wanted to just . . . oh, shit. He yanked his hand away. "Here, why don't you sit down for a sec and let me pick up a little, okay?"
"Certainly," Fraser said, and found the couch with his hand. He sank into the cushions, knees up above his hips, and Ray was suddenly painfully aware of just how short that gown was.
