all these half floors will lead to mine

absolution is a very similar album to 30 seconds to mars, its got very much the same ideas, was created through the same motivations. both sing of power, control, and just love of destiny. the want to embrace the future and annihilate the past. though absolution is less collected than mars- mars is more of a concept album (though the members claim that wasn't there intention, it doesn't really matter to me). absolution is awesome, nonetheless, though sometimes it feels a little incomplete. i haven't really jumped into the whole thing yet though, so i can't really say.
the past two days have been massive attack though. i've been relishing in slowness, in rhythm, been dancing a lot, exercising a lot. i'm beginning to feel a little more taut and fresh. but i haven't been feeling to well - this house is the root of my allergies, and i can't wait to be rid of them...i think i may have lost my breath last night, or some night in this past week, i'll be having a dream and suddenly it's like someone has pinched my nose and i wake up after struggling a bit. it's happened before, it may have happened recently but i don't remember that well.

so i finally picked up "blue," but after a couple of paragraphs i decided i didn't really want to write. the story i admit is getting a little stale in my mind. it used to be so vivid and loud, now it's just a few scribbles on paper. but i think i've figured out why- i have my narrator who, though he is otherwise very developed and intricate, is lacking a personality. he's got everything else, it's just that he lacks a good outward representation of himself. this isn't really that big of a deal - i was planning on showing what the kid was made of as the story progressed, but he's boring me. so i'm thinking of just giving him a kind of quirk, an idea i'm stealing from card i'll admit but it's effective. just something to make him distinctive so i can keep going, and have something more tangible to work with. either that or i have take a lot of time to develop him intricately and that's a lot of work that i don't think i'm up for. second (yeah, and there's a second thing) is adam, my other main character. he's awesome, but has even less than julian. nothing. no character development. obviously he has an outward personality - a manipulative sociopath, that's his gimmick but i haven't considered anything beyond that. so, in other words, i have my work cut out for me before i can continue with this.

oh and i finally figured out why reservoir dogs is called reservoir dogs.
