[1a]
junsu wears his heart on sleeve.

[1b]
this is especially problematic on game nights because it's always changmin left on the river (when junsu even gets that far). junsu is always even more handicapped by yoochun leaning over and whispering his idiotic notions of support into his ear ("distract him with your o-face!" or "baby you're the king of my heart") while junsu tries unsuccessfully to hold together the remnants of his poker face, but changmin never folds which means junsu always loses.

the only time junsu is lucky enough to be dealt a royal flush yoochun gasps obnoxiously which means jaejoong also looks over and blurts out "shit, no way!" while yunho snickers into his knuckles and shares a knowing glance with changmin. changmin folds, and even though his victory is 95% bitter 5% sweet, junsu can't keep the grin off his face for the entire night and through the morning of the next day until changmin k-o's him twice in street fighter with chun-li.

"ugh why can't you ever let me be happy?" junsu moans, so changmin drags yoochun into the room, shoves the controller at him and commands him to play.

at first junsu is insulted for being handed such an unworthy opponent but he relents when he sees yoochun's willingness to learn so he spends an hour teaching yoochun the best a b x y thumbstick d-pad lt rt combinations and is pleasantly surprised that yoochun's fingers move just as adeptly on the controller as they do on the piano.

junsu wins every round thereafter but he lets yoochun get in a decent number of super and ultra combos despite him always pausing the game for annoying little victory dances which more often than not involve hip gyrations in front of junsu's face.

junsu shoves him away each time, annoyance in his voice while telling him to get on with it (mumbling about being stuck with an amateur) but yoochun never misses the small twitch of junsu's lips and the crinkling of his eyes when he sits back down on the couch.

[1c]
(junsu can never seem to brood properly because yoochun always comes around, ruffling his hair and poking his cheeks

"your face is like the one thing you've got going for you, so don't ruin it with forehead lines."

"what, are you calling me stupid? and since when do you have the monopoly on looking out the window like some tortured artist? i can think deep thoughts too!"

yoochun had laughed deep and unsure, something flickering in his eyes but junsu wasn't sure

"that's not what i meant. go ahead, okay? just not too long. it doesn't suit you.")

[1d]
the first time yoochun kisses him too wet too rough too drunk too sudden, junsu hates that he can't help his face from distorting into something like an apology.

[2a]
yoochun is enough of a cynic to know that there will be no happily ever after but too much of a romantic to not still want it so much that it hurts.

[2b]
early morning means yoochun thinks only in a mess of rhetoric and hypotheticals and watches infomercials until his eyes start to water, because shit, what if he really needs this four-in-one slicer grinder juicer blender (special one time offer) and then he would never have to go outside for fresh orange juice ever again and so he reaches for the phone and

"who the hell are you calling this late?"

"FUCK!" yoochun clutches at his heart while jaejoong sighs and flops down on the couch next to him and shoves his feet underneath yoochun's thighs, giving an "it's cold" as explanation. who were you going to call? jaejoong persists.

"i was gonna order one of those." yoochun nods his head in the direction of the television.

"seriously? it wasn't one of those 1-900-hot-4-sex kind of things?"

"i have morals, you know."

"could've fooled me.”

they watch as fruits vegetables and nuts are arranged on the screen, yoochun realizes

"you know. we're the real whores."

"well yeah we've had the most sex out of everyone, but it seems a little much to--"

"no, i mean like we do what we're told, we dress up and shake our hips and make girls scream and our pimps get most of the cut."

"we can sing and play instruments too. that at least makes us classy male escorts, not just your typical corner or under the bridge fare."

"and you know what the worst part is?"

"what?"

"we don't even get to actually have sex with anyone."

"you say that like i don't count."

yoochun chuckles and flicks his fingers against jaejoong's forehead, smiling. jaejoong's protest is unusually minimal and they both turn to watch the obliteration of several brightly colored bell peppers. yoochun waits until the audience is done clapping after a particularly impressive puree to answer

"you do...count."

jaejoong nods, "but not in the way you want."

"huh?"

"i'm easy and familiar. lifetime guarantee. safe."

"that is what i want!"

"no. i don't think it is."

[2c]
(she was older and more experienced, so yoochun didn't really understand why she was even interested him in the first place but the way her lips moved when she smirked and when she laughed with him - no, laughed at him, he had realized a little too late - made his heart flutter, and he knew that even if they weren't meant to be equals, he'd definitely still play along.

he'd remember the feeling of always wanting to impress, the way her legs looked in those khaki shorts under that oversized hoodie she would always wear and glimpses of soft skin when she crossed and then uncrossed her legs incessantly (it must've been on purpose), and wanting to kiss her first but knowing that he never would, so he would play coy, pretending that he was withholding on purpose, when all he really wanted to do was lean over and wipe that look off her face.

two months and seven days later she would say, “being with you is like trying to fit a circle into a square.”)

[2d]
the first time he kisses junsu too quiet too desperate too hard too eager, yoochun hates that jaejoong can't ever help being right.
