Day 1:  Travel to and arrive in San Francisco.

Due to some user error, we thought we had tickets for 9:30am tuesday morning.  They were for 9:30, just the pm one.  We realized this sunday afternoon.  After some calls to the airline and the airline costumer service we had three options.  Go to the airport at 5:30am and hope to get a stand by ticket on the 7:30am flight(the only other flight to SF that day) for 25 dollars; transfer our tickets to the earlier flight for the 25 dollar fee plus half the difference in air fair which was $260 a ticket; or just suck it up and fly out at 9:30pm and lose a day in san francisco.  We elected to wake up at 4:45am and go to the airport.  We got there a little early actually, only to have the same airline tell us they don't allow flying stand by unless you missed a flight, so you can't fly stand by ahead of your scheduled plane.  After we explained to them what we were told, they offered to waive the difference in air fair, but we would have to pay the $50 fee, that was $25 the night before.  So we made it on the 7:30am plane.  The only complaint was the incredibly uncomfortable seat I had.  My ass cheeks hurt so bad after only an hour in.

We got to the San Francisco airport in just under 4 hours and found our luggage just find.  Then we rode the air train to the BART station and rode that into downtown San Francisco.  Our hotel wouldn't let us check in until 3pm local time, which is like 5pm in MPLS.  At this point it was 11am in San Francisco and we had been up since 4:45am MPLS time, so you do the math.  We walked through a great deal of chinatown after dropping our luggage off at the hotel to hold until we could check in, and ate lunch at a chinese place that Danielle's dad recommended called "Hunans Home" or something to that effect.  It was good.  Then we walked down into what we guess is the financial district of downtown.  Wow, people drive nuts here.  Its insane.  Its like packed traffic downtown and people are flying around at top speed.  Im so glad we arent renting a car.

We made a stop in the Virgin Mega Store, which was impressive, and surprisingly cheap considering what I remember Matt Stenberg telling me about when he went to the one in Chicago(i think) and the beastie boys latest cd was 20 some dollars.   Also stopped at the Paul Frank store, which was dissapointing.  There was hardly any merchandise in the store, and there was 6 people working in it, when 2 would have been sufficiant.  We also road the trolley to go to fishermans warf and the aquarium that is out there, but got off at the end of the line and realized we rode it the entire distance the wrong way.  At this point, I was too tired and gross to make another attempt, so we rode the trolley back to our hood and checked into our hotel, only to find that we didn't have the Jeremy Fish room that we requested because of some stupid and unapologetic people at the desk.  Apparently we get to switch rooms tomorrow and get the room that we reserved and was promised to us.

Just got out of the shower and now we are going to take a nap.  After that, we are going to go find Danielle's friend Rachel's house and go eat dinner(tacos) and then go to a bar that is modeled after a speakeasy.  They give you a password when you make reservations, and they have the whole slot in the door and the bookcase that opens to the bar and everything apparently.  Should be a good time.

Ok, goodnight.

Tomorrow: Alcatraz, Giants-Cubs game, and more.
