jakarta is most exactly like athens in the 80s early 90s. well, people's attitudes. they're more passive here, but that just means theyre not hanging out the window yelling obscenities. and vehicular speed is much lower. that's about it. so i'll think of somethign else too.
it's really cool out here, but for anyone living in hawaii, just go to maui for the weekend, you'll be able to understand most everybody. though if you go off the touristy parts things are dirt cheap. even in the touristy parts(along the beach) things are pretty cheap. well, some things are cheap here in indonesia. things that are made here are very much so. imported thigs liek laptops are about 25% more expensive. anyhow. so we've got a phone number. now i can't remember what it is. so tough. we're sporting a fresh nokia 7600 and it's growing on me, even though both mark and mum say it's the ugliest phone known to man. i'm still tryig to figure out if i can use it back pghside. the hyatt is pretty sweet and well. we havent' taken many pictures. our camera is hugenormous as you all know and that doesnt' fit very well into the walking around a lot bit. and i make R carry it anyway. mebe i'll have to carry it. damn. ok so that's it. this connection is about 2K/second. ridiculous. and it's 20,000 rups for every half hour. that's about 2 bux. i couldda gout a large bintang for that... easily. ok so we're drinking a lot over here too. more than we have in the past year alone! oh and the people we're with are great. so that's it. see you in a week and a half. we'll see if we can get a pic of us on the beach for california peter. ok laters all! dont' feel bad, as we dont' really miss anyone or anything!
