J-B Weld FAIL

Aug 06, 2012 21:19

About an inch (2.54cm) of badly-needed rain fell on Saturday. I had dutifully patched the small split in my rain barrel with J-B Weld. It seemed to be the right sealant for the job, being a slow-curing epoxy. Package said marine (which I took to mean waterproof), weatherproof, 3690PSI, listed "most plastics" among the substances it would adhere to... But no.

WaterWeld might be the Right Tool For The Job, unless the reason the other stuff failed has to do with the rain barrel being the wrong type of plastic (i.e. polyethylene or polypropylene).
