It’s supposed to be Kim versus Jung. Not Kim loves Jung.
- ii a month later
Jaejoong is rudely being shaken up from his beauty sleep. He hates being disturbed. He groans and cracks one eye open.
It’s his butler, Hanbyul.
“Hanbyul.” Jaejoong croaks.
“Master Jaejoong, please wake up.” His voice sounds rushed and urgent. Jaejoong frowns. Hanbyul is never the one to disturb Jaejoong while sleeping. He knows how much Jaejoong loves to sleep.
“What? What is it? What happened?” Jaejoong sits up and rubs his eyes open. It’s around three in the night.
“Master.” Hanbyul hesitates. “Master, it’s about your parents.”

Jaejoong rushes into the hospital through the back door; Hanbyul had made sure to see that Jaejoong took the back entrance and avoided all the paparazzi that were hounding the front gate.
Puffy eyed and still dressed in his pajamas, Jaejoong numbly follows Hanbyul. “They were in an accident.” Hanbyul’s voice ringing in his ears. “They were on their way to the airport, they had a flight to catch and I am not sure about anything else, Master.”
Jaejoong sees Yuri pacing up and down the corridor, worriedly biting her lip and fidgeting with the ring on her finger.
“Noona.”
She stops when she hears Jaejoong and her face grows paler than usual. “Oh, Jae!” She gasps, rushing to him and wrapping him into a tight hug. The moment he feels his sister’s arms around him, he bursts out in tears and she holds him closer. “I’m sorry. I am so sorry.” She says, her voice shaking.
“What happened?” Jaejoong sniffs.
His sister lets go of him and sniffs, dabbing her eyes with a handkerchief. She looks at Hanbyul and smiles wearily; “Do you want to pay your respects, Hanbyul-sshi?”
The butler bows with respect and smartly walks towards the VIP ward; Jaejoong swears he sees tears trailing down Hanbyul’s cheeks.
“Jaejoong, come here, sit.” Yuri pulls Jaejoong to nearest chairs.
“I need you to listen to me. You are not safe here anymore.”
“What?”
“You don’t know anything that’s happening. Mom and dad made it a point to keep away the ugly things from you till the time was right. But we don’t just have a professional rivalry with the Jung family.”
“What - you mean to say - did they do this? They killed mom and dad? What is going on?”
“Calm down. What happened with Yunho was actually an accident. We didn’t mean to harm him, it was supposed to be just a threat.”
“Why do we hate the Jungs - “
“You are not going to stay here anymore. You are coming with me to London. We leave day after tomorrow.”
“Noona.”
“Look, Jaejoong, whatever was happening with - whatever is happening between our family and the Jungs was between dad and Jinho - Yunho’s eldest brother. I do not want to be a part of it and I want things to end and I am not going to leave you here all by yourself. So, please, do me a favor and don’t question anything. There will come a right place and right time and I will tell you everything.”
Jaejoong stares at his sister and with a defeated sigh, he wipes away his tears and stands up. “May I please go see my parents?”

The whole of Korea, if not, the whole of Seoul come to pay respects to the passing away of Jaejoong’s parents. The siblings conduct themselves properly, accepting condolences and addressing everyone. Jaejoong, however, noted the absence of one powerful family.
+
Jaejoong sighs as he overlooks Hanbyul ordering the packers and movers. The mansion seemed so much more spacious now that most of their stuff had been packed.
Yuri comes up next to him and wraps an arm around his shoulder; “I am sorry you had to leave everything behind like this. But, thank you so much for making it so easy for me.”
“You know what dad always said, Noona.” Jaejoong shrugs, wrapping his arm around her waist.
“Family comes first.” The siblings recite in unison and smile at each other.
“We are all done here, Master and Miss.” Hanbyul says, walking up to them. “I shall take your leave then.” He says, bowing down.
“Where do you think you are going?” Yuri asks, frowning.
Hanbyul looks a little dumbfounded. “Uh, I am going home?”
“Hanbyul-sshi, your family has been with my family seen my grandparents were kids. And if you think you are not a part of this family, you have another thing coming, mister.” She jokingly chides him. “You are coming with us. I don’t have time to take care of this brat all by myself.” She laughs.
Hanbyul cracks a smile and bows. “Thank you, miss.”
Jaejoong feels a knot tightening in his stomach.
+
“So you are leaving tonight?” Yoochun asks, pulling his knees to his chest.
“Yes.” Jaejoong sighs. “I think I am going to do well in London.”
Yoochun and his parents had attended the funeral but the best friends hadn’t found the time to sit and talk amidst all the responsibilities Jaejoong had to care of.
“What time do you leave for the airport?”
“In about two hours.”
Yoochun hums in acknowledgement and sighs; “I am going to miss you, you know that right?”
“Come with me.”
“What?”
Jaejoong sits up straight and shrugs; “why not? You can stay with us. Your parents know us well enough and what’s so bad about it? And you know you won’t be able to handle Changmin.”
Yoochun groans and falls back into his bed; “I completely forgot about all of him.”
Jaejoong chuckles.
“Think about it, it’s not a bad idea.”
“I don’t know. I’ll see what I can do.” Yoochun says, sitting back up. “Have you spoken to Yunho?”
“No.” Jaejoong says, the knot in his stomach tightening. “And I don’t want to.”
“I know.” Yoochun nods. “But I am so sorry.”
Before Jaejoong can ask why or what’s happening, Yunho walks into Yoochun’s room. Jaejoong shoots up and stares at Yunho with wide eyes. “What the hell are you doing here?”
“Yoochun told me you were leaving.”
Jaejoong shoots a glance at Yoochun, who looks at him apologetically; “I am so sorry, Jae. I know I shouldn’t have but Yunho was so desperate.”
“You.” Jaejoong turns back to Yunho, glaring at the boy. “You. You killed my parents.”
“Jaejoong, I had no idea.” Yunho replies, inching closer to Jaejoong. “I am so sorry, but I really had no idea.”
Jaejoong feels tears prickling his eyes and he shuts his eyes and takes a deep, deep breathe. “Yunho, my father always used to say one thing to my sister and I, he always used to say that family comes first. And I don’t want to insult his soul by holding any kind of conversations with you. So, please, do me this favor and leave me alone.”
He breathes out and turns to Yoochun. “Think about what I said about London. I am leaving now.” He gives Yoochun a quick hug and brushes past Yunho and runs out to the street.
He’s waiting for Hanbyul to bring the car and pick him up when he sees Yunho jogging up to him; “I am not giving up on us.” Yunho nearly yells, wrapping his hand around Jaejoong’s elbow and spinning him around.
“Let me go, Yunho.” Jaejoong says icily, not sparing Yunho a glance.
“Look at me.” Yunho says, pulling the shorter boy closer. “Look at me and tell me I mean nothing to you and the past year meant nothing to you and that we meant nothing to you.”
Jaejoong looks up at Yunho, stares him in the eye and doesn’t blink as he says; “I wouldn’t care less if you were wiped out from the face of the planet right now.”
Yunho, shell shocked, loosens his grip around Jaejoong and right on time, Jaejoong’s car arrives and the boy doesn’t look as he walks up to his car.
“I am not going to give up on us.” Yunho whispers as he watches Jaejoong’s car disappear around the corner.
