Kirten and I commenced apartment hunting full force this weekend, and true to form, we loved the second place we looked at. Our game plan was not to say yes, we'll rent your house, when we were there for the first time. Of course this all fell apart when we walked in the front door of this apartment in Goshen (40 minutes away from Amherst, up in the Berkshires) and practically died because of how cute it was. Photo evidence (via Craigslist posting) is here:
http://westernmass.craigslist.org/apa/275878169.html Things this apartment has going for it:
1) You can walk five minutes through the woods to a restaurant that sells burgers and local beer.
2) We could have a dog.
3) We'd heat with wood, but it's a pellet stove instead of a regular wood stove.
4) The people we'd be renting from are really nice.
5) The guys upstairs are a gay couple.
6) Lawn care is included.
7) We have a huge garden space that we could use.
8) A restaurant named Elmer's is in the next town over and apparently has great breakfast.
9) The list goes on and on.
Some cons:
1) We'd have to start renting in March, a month earlier than we originally thought we'd do.
2) 40 minute commute in the winter through the mountains.
3) The couple is trying to figure out if they're going to sell or rent. We'll know this week.
