Suarentauro, final two rituals

Jun 03, 2009 13:47

Here are the last two rituals that were done. The first is the fourth ritual, or third on Day 2. The final one is the fifth ritual, done on Day 3. The fourth ritual is VERY short, but apparently effective.

Third Ritual, Day 2

Preparation
  • Have two jugs of water near the location of the earlier main ritual.
  • P1 should have a glass or bottle of wine.

Ritual

Purification:
  • Wash in Khernips

All priests/priestesses gather in the ritual area used earlier. P3 takes one jug and goes to west, P2 the second jug and goes to the east.

Assemble in a circle near the center.

P1 then says: "We pray to Zeus of the Earth and pure Demeter, for Demeter's holy grain to ripen heavy."

P1 offers a wine libation at this time, pouring onto the ground.

P3 should go to the west, knock over the vessel with the water so that it pours out, and cry to the heavens saying "Rain!"

P2 should go to the east, knock over the vessel with water there, and cry to the heavens saying "Conceive!"

    Retire for meal and drinking.

By the time we got to this one, folks were dragging. Good thing it was short.

First Ritual, Day 3 (Fifth Ritual)

    Preparation

    • P1 place an unlit torch near the eastern boundary post (just inside the sacred space) in the morning before the arrival of the others.
    • Prepare packages of grains of barley for each priest/priestess and assistant.
    • Have unlit candles ready for each priest/priestess and assistant.
    • Prepare small bottles with khernips water for each priest/priestess and assistant, and one other bottle or bowl for libations.
    • Have a small dry stick, preferably oak, a second torch, and a source of flame next to the grills used the previous day as fires.

Ritual Prayer for the Community and Consecration of the Flames

    Meditation by ______________

    Purification:
  • Smudge by________
  • Tingshas by________
  • Wash in Khernips

Gather at the site of the ritual from the day before.

P1 brings the grain bags, water bottles, and the candles, as well as some incense.

Wash in khernips, and light incense within the boundary of the previous ritual. A stick incense is probably best.

If the candle with the sacred flame is not lit:

P1 take the stick, stir it in the ashes of the south fire, and say; Father Zeus, ignite within this sacred wood the flame of justice.

P3 take the stick, stir it in the ashes of the western hearth fire, and say; Castor, Polydeuces, ignite within this sacred wood the flames of prosperity.

P2 take the stick, stir it in the ashes of the eastern fire, and say; Father Ares, ignite within this sacred wood the flames of protection.

FP light the end of the stick with a lighter or match, and use the flaming stick to light the torch. You can put the stick in one of the grills once done.
If the candle with the sacred flame is lit:

FP will light the torch with the candle, or a flame transferred from the candle to the ritual area. Before lighting the torch, priests/priestesses recite the following:
    • P1; Father Zeus, ignite within this sacred wood the flame of justice.
    • P3; Castor, Polydeuces, ignite within this sacred wood the flames of prosperity.
    • P2; Father Ares, ignite within this sacred wood the flames of protection.

Walk, in pompe order, to the torch on the east side and form a semi-circle around it, making sure to stay within the greater sacred space.

FP light the second torch and extinguish the first.

P1 distribute bags of grains, waters, and candles to all priests/priestesses and assistants.

Beginning with the grains, then water, and finally the candles, P1 makes the following prayers, with a water libation before each one:

(P1 pour libation) Demeter's gifts, born by the Dioskouroi, I give to each of you this gift of grain. May it bring you and our community prosperity in the coming year

Each priest/priestess and assistant touches the torch base with the bags of grain. Don't burn them! These are for the priests/priestesses and assistants to take home and use as they see fit.

(P1 pour libation) Gift of Father Zeus, the avon, the living waters, I give to each of you this gift of water. May it bring justice and purity to you in the coming year.

Each priest/priestess and assitant touches the torch base with the bottles of water.

(P1 pour libation) Gift of Ares, protector and warrior, I give to each of you this gift and command that you ignite the living flame within it.

Each priest/priestess and assistant lights the candle.

P1 states: Take these flames, the flames of our community and go forth. By all of the gods, make our community strong, help it to grow and prosper. Let it be just and pure. May your lives be full of joy and goodness in the coming year.

Extingush the flames and proceed to the house for the meal.
