the trend-o-meter
I've discovered the best guage for finding trends that are rapidly burning themselves out... it's myspace. after poking around on that thing for about an hour one may rapidly reach the following conclusions:
1. everybody seems to love ian curtis, even if they don't know who he was or own any jd albums. everyone claims to love jd, most likely due to the movie "24 hour party people." It seems crystal clear to me then, that 25 yrs after I hang myself, droom will be a household name.
2. it seems like everyone, and I mean everyone, seems to think that they're a porn star. I understand if you're actually getting paid for this, but if you're doing it for free?!?!?!?!???
3. the whole "don't look at me, I'm a monster" and satanist thing has yet to go away. "oh my goodness, another giant flaming inverted pentagram jpg. I'm terrified. I've never seen that before either."
