Why is it that all christians always assume that I am a christian? I've had a few (too many) christians come by my door and trying to sell me books and whatever about christianity. and they go on about how it will help me understand the bible and bring me closer to god. I am a little irritated with that assumption. And it goes to show the uncrossable gap between christians and reality. or as i prefer to call it atheism. now i don't actually come out and say that i am atheist, but i do try to explain that my understanding of the bible is sufficient for me. and i find it amusing how they aren't ever really interested in my perspective but only their own. they are never there to debate, only to preach.
so as a side note, i personally think the bible should ONLY be interpreted extremely literally. if you don't, then you can make it say anything you want by bending what they really mean. so, I think all christians should believe the earth is only 6,000 years old and that it is still flat. because it shows how completely incorrect the bible is. which then shows that their god is wrong as well along with everything else they believe. if you don't take the bible literally, then you aren't a true christian - you're just making shit up. but then, that's just what every religion is.
