Friday craziness

Friday started with Perry refusing to get on the bus and freaking out, Brian chasing him and then when Brian realized it would just be better for Perry to stay home Perry darted onto the bus and wouldn't get off.

Brian stepped on a piece of glass that was too small to see and he limped around all day Fri despite both of us attempting to find and remove the glass, duct tape and soaking. He finally resorted to a sharp knife.

Then as I was trying to get out the door to buy a few last minute things at the grocery store Brian called to let me know his van had a dead battery and he had taken the truck. The bed being filled with things I'm supposed to take don to our neighbor so he can sell them and it was raining. The plastic things will be fine. The electronics probably not so much.

Then my mother called to let me know she was on her way and should she stop and pick up anything. So in my frustration of Vigil's need to be out of the house or destruct-o-boy I yelled at her. I stuffed Virgil in his car seat, called Mom back to apologize for being so out of line and didn't even finish my first sentence without cursing her out and hanging up on her. Ouch. Sorry mom!

The first success of the day was getting through the grocery store quickly with a happy and dry Virgil. I got home at 10:29. Important because mom was supposed to arrive at 10:30 and she did. My Dad watched Virgil while I unpacked groceries. Things went well until

Lunchtime when I was trying to put Virgil's duck in his crockpot and dealing with his poop and the school called. It doesn't really work to be on the phone while dealing with dirty hand activities. The school let me know at the end of recess Perry got in a fight, bit another student then ran off school property and down the road.

Meanwhile Virgil followed me outside and slipped on the concrete stairs. I hung up on the school, calmed Virgil and drove over to the school. There went two hours. Virgil's duck didn't get cooked due to the delay, so he ate our food so Friday night wasn't very restful. I had also been hoping to steal those two hours for a nap.

The rest of Yom Kippur eve was calm up until....we were just getting ready to leave for Kol Nidre when our neighbor rang the bell to let us know one of our trees had dropped a branch on their car. We didn't make Kol Nidre but the man clearing the lot across from ours is going to deal with the tree Monday for a very reasonable amount.

After Galen and Perry went to bed I fell into bed while Brian brushed Virgil's teeth. Somehow Virgil got into the vasaline - again! I got the corn starch and we stayed up late coming globs of cornstarch/vasaline out of his hair.

I think that's everything from Friday. Sat was better. Galen and Perry stood all of Neila and Perry got to lead the havdallah procession. He even went to bed nicely despite the late hour.
