GAPS diet fail

Day one hungry but not too bad. Virgil's skin is healing.
Day two Virgil peed 3 diapers overnight. He and I were constipated. His legs are turning red. I move to stage two, maybe too fast but it's only adding egg yolks. Virgil starts burping, his legs are more red. He gets Benadryl before bed. I eat a gluten free doughnut. 5am Virgil gets more Benadryl and handed off to Brian bc I'm done nursing him. Virgil refuses the hand off and screams in hysteria anytime he isn't held in my arms with his back arched over my arm. Virgil gets ibuprofen.
Day 3 I have soup for breakfast. Virgil eats venison but refuses the broth. Virgil goes nuts trying to get some OJ. His legs are red, his nose is running, he is manic. Brian and I declare GAPS a failure. Virgil gets OJ and cereal and an apple. Virgil is happy. I pray sugar really isn't the issue because we're hopeless then.

8am new cleaning crew shows up. They offer to wait in the car when I tell them they weren't expected before 9. I double check the email it says 8:30-9 and they are 30 min early and impinging on kids out the door time. They want to sign me up before they go I tell them we are auditioning someone else in two weeks and I'll let them know. Reality - I won't call them. They clean like the crew I fired. I find toothpaste on the sink counter, pee on the floor behind 2 toilets, food stuck to the floor under the high chair, pillows without pillow cases, etc.... It might be passable because they didn't throw any toys away or hide my toiletries but they're $40 more per week for the same level of attention to detail. And this is them making a first impression. I guarantee a year from now they would put 1/2 the effort in that they did today.
Virgil and I eat lunch. Virgil grabs the soup at the end of the meal and flings it on the floor. I make banana bread with rice flour. Virgil helps. I'll be remopping the floor tonight. Sigh. Virgil eats a buckwheat cracker. Yay.

Virgil is now overtired and manic. Stupid allergies. I bought the GAPS book this weekend. I guess I'll keep it and read it. Maybe I'll try it later on. Maybe it will explain how you do GAPS with a child allergic to most of the items on its super restrictive list. Stage3 if we made it consists of avocado and fish both items Virgil can't have. So to summarize we can't eat 1/2 the foods on step 1 and none of the foods on step 3. Great he's now burping like his grandmother. Detox or a sign he needs more Benadryl?

I emailed the super expensive allergist in MD. He suggests a GI consult before putting him on steroids. I emailed backache bit terse saying, Why? And stop treating him like he's 18 months and pretend he's 18 years and tell me what you'd recommend. Seriously, the terror over steroids for infants is just ridiculous. Why would you risk general anesthesia to find out he needs steroids. Which is more risky! Duh!

Tired, cranky, exasperated. Excited for banana bread and to go walking in the sunny warmish outdoors.
