Day 1 Serve w/ sausage. Get good reviews. Get to explain to kids that they are between a bean and a pea. Serve w/ green peas.
Day 2 lots of extras. Kids are done with lentils, back to peas. Brian and I get lentils w/ more sausage.
Over the course of the week. I have lentils for lunch lots of days. Lentils with tomato and buttermilk ranch dressing. Lentils with tomato and carmalized onion. Finally today lentils with the last ripe tomato. (Can you tell what else needed to get used up?). I couldn't even finish them. Note after day 2 Brian _stopped_ eating them? Prefering to finish the kids leftovers instead. (Okay, so my chicken w/ peanuts stir-fry was really good even if Galen did dump too much duck sauce on his portion. And Galen's butternut squash mac and cheesy was great, too. But I think the big thing is they all have way more COLOR than lentils!)
Some foods are so good it seems you don't get sick of them (like chocolate or beets). Lentils are not on that list. Nope. I still think they taste fine but I am so sick of their dreary drab color. I wonder how long it will take before I am inspired to buy and cook lentils again?
