Galen

Still putting things back in the filing cabinet. Many of you know my philosophy is that the best thing you can do for your _healthy_ newborn is avoid any pediatricians for the first 2 weeks.

I just found Galen's 2 week (and really we went at 14 days) check up sheet. He was _still_ 1oz under his birthweight. Now its true we had switched from psycho b___ch to more sane doc by then. But I don't even remember it being discussed that he was underweight or not back at birthweight. There's certainly nothing on his chart other than a note he should be 6-8 weeks for travel. so there really couldn't have been much concern for his health if he was cleared for travel and didn't need any visit before the next routine appointment at 2 months.

So apparently being under birthweight in the first few days after birth despite its normalcy is cause for freaking out but continuing to be under birthweight at 14 days is no big deal.

Please see rule # 1 above.
