You'll see this checklist a few times in the next couple of months, with a growing number of checkmarks. It's more for my own reference, and also a good way to keep you all up-to-date with the final leg of my epic journey.

• Schedule dissertation defense:

• Submit "Degree Candidate Form" to Graduate School (no later than 16th October 2006):
  
• Submit final version of dissertation to committee members (no later than 4th October 2006):
  
• Submit "Request for Final Oral" form to Graduate School (no later than 18th October 2006):
  
• Survive and pass dissertation defense (Wednesday 1st November 2006, 9 AM):
  
• Make any required corrections and submit certified dissertation to UMI (no later than 8th December 2006):
  
• Submit required forms to the Graduate School (no later than 8th December 2006):
