Today was the day for a couple major software releases.
First of all,
Mozilla Firefox 1.0 is finally officially out. It is slightly better than the preview release, and seems to work fine with all of the plugins and extensions, including version
0.5.3 of DeepestSender, the mozilla-based Livejournal Client. Furthermore, the mozilla organization appears to have secured their very own
start page on google.com! This is a big day for mozilla.
For those who don't know what Mozilla Firefox is, it is a browser that is by far superior to MS internet explorer, due to superior pop-up blocking, faster pageload times, tabs, and the fact that it does not accumulate viruses, spyware, and other internet garbage while browsing.
Secondly, Halo 2 is now out for the Xbox. Sadly, I do not have an Xbox, and must wait for the PC version. But from what I hear, it's a great game, expanding on the origionaly Halo engine with dual weapons and improved combat systems.
And finally, the great evil that we all know as AOL
is breaking into four pieces.
Given the declining market share of AOL, and its failure to attract users after its initial surge, it's not suprising that it is now falling to pieces.
In the non-computer-related news, the U.S.
has finally launched the long awaited attack on Falluja. While U.S. casualties are few (about a dozen), civillian casualties are still unreported. Notice how this was done right after the election, thereby removing any potential failures from swaying it.
