In-Game Character Information
Name: Hot Movie Utena Tenjou Utena
Series: Adolescence of Utena
Age: I am...going to say 15. Oh, and Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, 'cause I cannot figure out a creative way to put it in the app.

Personality: Utena has modeled herself after the ideal "prince" in fairytales in the hopes that it would bring her closer to her old friend, and eventually to save Anthy from her self-imposed prison. That said, she's got all the traits that are coupled with it: an overinflated sense of responsibility, she's courageous and runs into things head on, usually without asking too many questions first.

She's a bit of a flirt when it comes to girls, but it's nothing too serious and she's got a pretty strong sense of honor: even if someone attractive is practically throwing themselves at her(it has happened), she's not going to take the bait. She's a little old-fashioned in that way: she's not going to be inclined(not...too much, anyway) toward ordinary teenage hormonal things--she likes to get to know a person first.

Even though this isn't...canon Utena, one of the big differences between hot movie Utena and her anime version is that she's a bit more closed off with her feelings--her anime version seems more open. She also seems a bit more solemn than usual, and a little more mature. She's fairly masculine in terms of her mannerisms and speech patterns, and isn't above getting physical when it comes to dealing with conflicts. She's not by any means going to look for a fight(what sort of self-respecting prince does?), but if she sees someone being mistreated or hurt, she's going to jump in.

Lastly, she is often mistaken for a boy.

Background: (Umm, just as a note, Adolescence of Utena is extremely confusing and deep, and simplifying it was fairly difficult for me. I've tried not to include any solid fates for anyone who would want to pick up any of the aforementioned characters, but if I need to fix or clarify something, plz to be letting me know.)

Utena's parents died when she was eight years old and as most of the Tenjou family had either died or been scattered all throughout Japan during the years, she was left in the care of an orphanage. Around this time, she met a young boy and quickly developed a sort of puppy love relationship with him. They were best friends and she considered him to be her "prince." One day, both children were sitting in a park near a lake, when Utena noticed a girl (who she would meet much later) fall into the water. She screamed for someone to assist, and the boy ran to her aid. Utena jumped into the water as well to assist her friend and the girl, and it is at this point things in her memory began to get fuzzy.

When she was saved from the water, the boy was missing, as was the girl, and Utena was once again alone. She was determined to find her old friend however, and eventually gained a clue that would lead her to him: in the form of a letter inviting her to the esteemed wizarding school, Ohtori Academy. Utena had, by now, changed her appearance, cutting her long hair and wearing boy's clothing, out of a desire to feel closer to her own lost prince.

Years passed, and there was still no word or sign of the boy who she'd been searching for. Ohtori was a large, imposing and mystifying sort of school: more like a small city than an academy, and often days in class seemed dreamlike and strange to Utena, as if everything was being viewed through some sort of odd, opaque mirror. An idealized concept of a school, one could say.

On her fourteenth birthday, she finally gained another clue to her friend's whereabouts. Another envelope: this time containing ring emblazoned with the school's iconic rose crest, and a short note.

This ring will lead you to me. Go to the garden in the sky.

Convinced the letter was from her old friend, she followed the instructions and managed to sneak into a tower normally forbidden for students to step foot in, to the Sky Garden. It was an absolutely breathtaking place, and one she'd never seen before during her years in Ohtori. The garden levitated, Utena was sure, from some form of magic and stood high above the main school grounds.

And there were roses. Roses and only that, as far as the eye could see. An ocean of crimson flowers. It was beautiful. She walked to the edge of the panel and stared down at the school below, the corridors and rooms sliding along the sky in perpetual movement. So fascinated by the view, she scarcely noticed the girl who had entered the garden with her, until she introduced herself.

This girl was Himemiya Anthy, and she explained that the sky garden belonged to her, as was her privilege for being the sister of the current headmaster. There was a moment of friendly chatting ("You grew all of these roses?" "Mm. It isn't as hard as it looks."), and so distracted, Utena did not notice the way Anthy's breath caught in her throat when she caught sight of the rose crest ring, nor did she hear the approach of the tall, dangerous-looking young man.

She did notice, however, when he roughly pulled Anthy to her feet and demanded to know what she was doing. Bothered by this mistreatment of the other girl, Utena stood in an unspoken challenge, and the boy laughed, giving her a dismissive once-over.

Then he noticed the ring, and took out his wand. There was suddenly a flurry of movement and some rushed, desperate pleading from Anthy: "Saionji-sama, she doesn't know--" before she was roughly struck by the young man and snapped at to "learn her place." He explained to Utena, in the least helpful way possible, that by wearing that ring, she had entered a very elite circle of wizard duelists. The victor would win Anthy as their property.

Enraged by the callous trading of a girl through something as petty as dueling, Utena challenged Saionji to fight, hoping to free Anthy from her forced servitude. Anthy placed roses on their chests: first red for Saionji, and pink for Utena. She explained to Utena in a hushed, hurried tone of voice that the first one to get the rose on their chest knocked off would lose the duel. And lastly, she kissed a very flustered Utena, and wished her luck. Anthy's gesture of good luck ended up serving Utena well, because Utena ultimately defeated Saionji and earned Anthy as her "bride." She proved to be the first of the duelists that actually wanted to know Anthy and learn more about her, and continued to win the duels for her sake. It occurred to her during this time, that perhaps she had not been led to Ohtori to find her "prince," but to save Anthy. She encountered the last duelist, Arisugawa Juri(ironically, the girl who had been saved by her friend many years ago) and defeated her.

But she learned that the duels were controlled by the long-deceased Headmaster Ohtori, who lived on as a malevolent, selfish ghost, concerned only with finding a proper replacement, a wizard that would be capable of being groomed into a powerful duelist, to run the school in his stead. They were perpetuated by Anthy, who was entirely dependent on her brother before his death. Utena convinces Anthy to escape the duels and the world of Ohtori, and they both move on from it--but they are unfortunately separated along the way. Utena's travels to find Anthy have ultimately led her to Hogwarts.

Blood: Full-blood.

Preferred House: Gryffindor. Also: Lemon drop.
Why you think they belong in this house? There is literally no other house that would suit Utena. She'd probably be utterly bummed if she got put somewhere else. That said, since Utena has modeled herself after the ideal "prince," as aforementioned, she's very courageous, chivalrous and good-hearted. Wears her heart on her sleeve, all that jazz.

She isn't stupid, but she tends to barrel into situations without knowing exactly what's going on, which would prevent her from really being much of a Ravenclaw (besides, she's not very good at math or...studying), she's loyal to a fault, but isn't a good match for Hufflepuff either, and Slytherin is right out.

So Gryffindor is best. c:

School Year: Fifth! Umm, she transferred from Ohtori to Hogwarts at the beginning of her fifth year. If this is not cool I will...edit!

Quidditch Position: BAWW I think she'd be a great Beater or Chaser but all the Gryffindor Positions are filled. ;__; Can she be put on reserves? c:
Would you like the character to possibly get a higher position? I think she'd be a totally rad Prefect, so sure.

Roleplay Samples

Journal Sample: I can't believe I lost this thing...I had to get a new one. It's been a while.

Ne, how many people are going to the ball? It's not really my style, but I might stop by.

Himemiya would--

This costume will go to waste if I don't right? Oi, being holed up in my room is getting depressing.

Roleplay Sample: "Leave that kid alone!" Utena vaulted over a stair railing and the third year who had been harassing the younger student scampered off before she could do any damage.

"Yeah, you better run!" Utena knelt down to help the younger kid to his feet, scratching the back of her head. "Hey, are you all right?"

The boy smiled hesitantly at her. Utena was relieved to see that he didn't look too roughed up. "Um...I'm fine. Thank you." The kid ran off to his next class, and Utena scratched the back of her head.

"Huh...wonder what that was all about." The pink haired girl shrugged her slim shoulders, as if dismissing it, and by habit, moved to touch the ring on her finger. She sighed and shook her head. There was nothing to be done about it now, and at least the kid was safe from any immediate harm.

Besides, she had her own classes to get to.

Note: I am willing to edit out or switch things around for any Anthy or Akio who would want to app.
