The Golden Bowl - Hello. Why was I not warned that this was based on a Henry James novel (never heard of it, sorry)? I had to read Washington Square in high school and I wrote such scathing things about it that my English teacher mentioned it in a speech at graduation.*
It took me three sittings to get through the movie and at the end I let out a resounding "what the fuck was that?!" This was in my "I want to see every movie Uma Thurman has been in" list and I think I really should have done a little more research. (be warned!)
(I went to a very small school and they would give a speech telling where all the graduates might be in the future...I was a film director who did a film adaptation of Washington Square...this was before the actual film adaptation came out. I forget who was supposedly going to be in my film adaptation...).
