After the hi-tech age, the expectations has always been that the world will move into a more advanced era...with robots, flying cars, more hitech gizmos, super cities, much smaller world etc

While you're at it, I'll predict a few things too:
1. Land shortage - People are gonna scramble for habitable land. Fertility would probably take a back seat since people would probably resort to eating fungi and uni-cellular cultures. We'd have huge Culture farms where we'd harvest micro-organisms which would later be processed and flavoured before packaging.
2. Currency will probably turn into a system of credits. All money would be electronic in nature. No separate currency. They'll all be standardized and static in terms of variety. No Rupee or Dollar. We'll all deal in 'Credits' or something.
3. Under-sea Habitats - With the increase in world population and diseases, and the lack of land area, some of us would probably build under-sea habitats and domes that would isolate populations and help contain any break-outs that might have a possibility of occuring in physically contained eco-systems.
4. The Cyborg Humans - From limb-replacement to complete bodily augmentation, we'll probably see people installing mechanical body parts, or physical enhancements that tap directly into our neural systems.
Hmmm.... There are a lot more, and the majority are good things. I feel humans would probably come up with better things to do with their minds than using it against each other. We'll probably eradicate parts of our populations before we get there, but we'll stop sooner or later. (I hope!)
the root of all problems will mainly be over population apart from human greed....unfortunately, countries like india, pakistan, malaysia etc will react to population crisis reality very late in the day.
