After the hi-tech age, the expectations has always been that the world will move into a more advanced era...with robots, flying cars, more hitech gizmos, super cities, much smaller world etc.
My prediction is that in the next couple of decades, the humankind will move back to the age of survival - the square one of the grid where the human civilization started. Well, not that the humans will become dumber or incapable, but just that their individual and collective greed will bring them to brink of worrying crazy about the basic necessities for survival.
There will be a shortage of all of these sooner or later:
1. Food
2. Drinking Water
3. Cleaner air
4. Housing
5. Security - protection from fellow beings esp. terrorists with nuclear warheads
6. Ecological imbalances will ruin the earth - maybe the ozone layer will give way
7. Money will lose value in most countries - so dont bother to save now...live life to the fullest
8. Genocide will be more frequent news item on page 9...will not hit the headlines even then
9. Aids and other new diseases will paralyze most countries
Not that I enjoy predicting doom or am pessimist about the potential, smartness, guile of human race to survive an holocaust, but then it is what it is, right? To prove that I am an optimist, lets look at some brighter side of life in say the year 2030
- Apple would have launched the most latest iphone, which has video interface, tv channels on phone and it will cost nothing to talk to someone in the new 'hot and happening' continent - Antartica. Wouldnt you just love that?!
