Will the last person to leave Earth turn the lights off?

Few things are stranger than history repeating itself. I mention this because Friday of last week I went to the shop to find out if I was working that day. Not only was I off that day, but Saturday was my last day there. No, I wasn't fired and I didn't quit either; the cheap bastards in the corporate office decided to close the store on the grounds of it not generating enough revenue. Fortunately, I had been thinking of changing jobs anyway since I was pretty much starving there. So, it was really no love lost and I can apply there and get hired again should the need arise (though, I highly doubt it will). We still managed about 20 cars with a 3-man crew; it was me, our manager Kris, and the assistant manager Brett. It was eerie when we started tearing things down to close the shop; we made sure everything was clean, and once the store was closed for the last time at 17:00 (5:00PM for the wimps who don't want to learn how to read 24-hr time), we each took a few mementos with us; I took a sign down and some oil that was left out of the inventory count (score!!), along with my steel toe shoes, safety glasses and toolkit. Once I left there, I felt strangely liberated on my way to the library to talk to Christiana a while before going home and heading out to a friend's out in Huntertown. But, history repeated itself in that my sister worked for the same company at an old location on State St. and they closed for the same reason. But, one thing is different in that I already have a prospect in line, where she had to look around for work again. Still, I hope to be on a faster track to meeting the most beautiful person that I love so much face to face. Not to mention garnering financial independence, at last. But, I still have my band and we're sort of going somewhere, at least. And, for those who know… happy Beltane. *tips hat, smiles*
