log with a princess

Clicking the door ever so quietly closed behind him, Aidan slipped the duplicate key into his pocket again. His first few times slipping in had been with a skeleton key but after making a print in wax one time while Zafer was sleeping, he had a real copy now. He set the paper bag he was carrying down on the desk, walking slowly and with the balls ( Read more... )

Taking care of a kitten too young to look after themselves was exhausting.

Zafer wasn't new to this process though. Back home in Erzurum his grandfather had owned a cat who tended to abandon her litters; he had become a foster mother to more than a few baby kittens. But this was the first time he was doing it without the help of his grandfather and while the helpers he'd recruited were, well, < i >helping< /i > somewhat, it was still exhausting having to get up every two hours to care for Milk.

Add to that, the emotional exhaustion that his conversation over the blogs with Erin had caused and you had one sound asleep Zafer, arms crossed and sitting up in another chair, his head lolling to the side.

As the alarm at his side went off, telling him it was time to get up and feed the kitten, he blinked and stretched as he got up, taking a quick look around to locate Milk and her bottle. Oh! And there she was! Sitting in Aidan's arms of course!

...Wait.

Aidan caught the stirring form in the chair opposite of him and used his thumb to save the article he was reading before giving Zafer a cheery smile.

"Good morning princess! I was wondering which alarm you were using to wake up!" He half-whispered. Milk stayed asleep, cradled in the crook of Aidan's left arm. His sports coat was folded neatly over the back of his chair (Zafer's desk chair).

...Oh god.

Here, Zafer found himself faced with a bit of a decision. He < i >could< /i > explode right here and now, give Aidan the "I really don't appreciate it when you break into my room" talk (but in far fewer words, of course), but his dealings with the taller man had taught him that this would probably achieve nothing.

That and it would wake his baby up.

Instead he stood quite still for a few moments, swallowing his rage before folding his arms. "Hello, Aidan." He said, attempting a calm voice (despite speaking through gritted teeth), before adding: "Why are you in my room?"

Still wearing that same insufferable smile on his face, Aidan adjusted himself so Milk was more comfortable looking, dreaming of fish and mice while warmed by Aidan's body heat and the milk she'd drank.

"Because it's comfortable?" He said with a teasing tone. Before Zafer's twitch could get any more permanent, he brought his finger to his lip to signal continued silence. The baby was sleeping. Do not disturb.

"You can still sleep for a little while longer."
