log with a princess

Clicking the door ever so quietly closed behind him, Aidan slipped the duplicate key into his pocket again. His first few times slipping in had been with a skeleton key but after making a print in wax one time while Zafer was sleeping, he had a real copy now. He set the paper bag he was carrying down on the desk, walking slowly and with the balls ( Read more... )

Taking care of a kitten too young to look after themselves was exhausting.

Zafer wasn't new to this process though. Back home in Erzurum his grandfather had owned a cat who tended to abandon her litters; he had become a foster mother to more than a few baby kittens. But this was the first time he was doing it without the help of his grandfather and while the helpers he'd recruited were, well, < i >helping< /i > somewhat, it was still exhausting having to get up every two hours to care for Milk.

Add to that, the emotional exhaustion that his conversation over the blogs with Erin had caused and you had one sound asleep Zafer, arms crossed and sitting up in another chair, his head lolling to the side.

As the alarm at his side went off, telling him it was time to get up and feed the kitten, he blinked and stretched as he got up, taking a quick look around to locate Milk and her bottle. Oh! And there she was! Sitting in Aidan's arms of course!

...Wait.

Aidan caught the stirring form in the chair opposite of him and used his thumb to save the article he was reading before giving Zafer a cheery smile.

"Good morning princess! I was wondering which alarm you were using to wake up!" He half-whispered. Milk stayed asleep, cradled in the crook of Aidan's left arm. His sports coat was folded neatly over the back of his chair (Zafer's desk chair).

...Oh god.

Here, Zafer found himself faced with a bit of a decision. He < i >could< /i > explode right here and now, give Aidan the "I really don't appreciate it when you break into my room" talk (but in far fewer words, of course), but his dealings with the taller man had taught him that this would probably achieve nothing.

That and it would wake his baby up.

Instead he stood quite still for a few moments, swallowing his rage before folding his arms. "Hello, Aidan." He said, attempting a calm voice (despite speaking through gritted teeth), before adding: "Why are you in my room?"

Still wearing that same insufferable smile on his face, Aidan adjusted himself so Milk was more comfortable looking, dreaming of fish and mice while warmed by Aidan's body heat and the milk she'd drank.

"Because it's comfortable?" He said with a teasing tone. Before Zafer's twitch could get any more permanent, he brought his finger to his lip to signal continued silence. The baby was sleeping. Do not disturb.

"You can still sleep for a little while longer."

Zafer found his eyes drawn to the kitten again - the one thing keeping him from flying off the handle into a murderous rage - before he looked back at Aidan. And then blinked as he processed the man's last sentence.

"What do you mean, 'I can sleep for a little while longer'?"

"You don't have class for another three hours, yes? And princesses are suppose to sleep in luxurious beds not chairs!" Aidan gave a questioning pout of his lips.

Zafer twitched.

Kill Aidan or let Milk sleep some more? A difficult choice to make. After weighing on his mental scales for a little while, Zafer relaxed his shoulders slightly. < i >Slightly.< /i >

"I need to feed her still, before I can sleep."

"Ah, she usually cries if she's hungry, doesn't she? I think she'll be okay." Aidan leaned back a little. Hm. This chair wasn't too uncomfortable.

"Or do you need me to fetch you a pea for your mattress?"

Zafer blinked again.

There was something about this scene (a man leaning back in a chair, stroking a white - well, black and white - cat while antagonising a man in a suit) that seemed oddly familiar to him. It suited Aidan too, he decided, fiddling unconsciously with the buttons on his shirt.

"You fed her for me?"

"Every two hours, yes?" Aidan ran his long fingers lightly across Milk's head, brushing her fur back. She was small but she was warm too and he did not mind the cat fur. It'd be easy enough to take a trip back to his or Soujirou's place and brush it off.

"Oh." He didn't quite know how to deal with this. It seemed that everyone had started being kind to him lately and every time it happened it would throw him, leave him vulnerable. "Oh. Thank you."

"For what? You want a pea? I suppose we could scrounge one up. . ." Aidan made a face of deep ponderings.

"Although really, I'd expected more pink and fluffy pillows for your bed, princess. We need to buy you a new set of sheets!"

Zafer closed his eyes and tried to count to ten, but found that his abject rage was making it a little difficult to remember what came after one. Instead bared his teeth (in a vain attempt to smile at Aidan's joke). "I don't think pink sheets would < i >suit me.< /i >"

Still though, he was tired. Setting the alarm again, he wandered over to his bed. And then gave Aidan another suspicious look.

Aidan gave him a wink.

"I promise not to molest you in your sleep princess! I'm a complete gentleman!"

"YOU-" Zafer stopped half-way, remembering his baby. "You are no gentleman!" He finished in an angry whisper.

He considered undressing for bed, but instead decided that it was possibly safer to get into bed fully clothed and pull the sheets up to his chin, pouting.

Aidan whistled innocently to Milk as he clicked open his iPhone again to finish reading news. He considered telling Zafer he'd be more comfortable undressed or in pajamas, but he saved that little bit for next time. If he pushed the poor guy anymore, Zafer probably would pop a blood vessel- or just never be able to fall asleep again.

"Sleep well, princess!" He half whispered down at Milk while shooting Zafer a smirky grin.
