Entry 02 - Doomed to Obscurity

Jul 14, 2008 22:11

Well, so much for the easy money ...

I found the ruins all right. But it turns out that some Drifter girl got there before me and nabbed the Crystal Flower. I don't think I'll be using that particular informant anymore.

I ended up saving a boy named Pike from a Tatzelwurm (completely by accident, mind you). I can't believe that dumb kid would risk his life exploring some decrepit ruins just to find a box of junk. He kept blabbing on and on about how it's not "junk" but a priceless treasure, because it holds sentimental value.

Memories. That's what Pike was willing to die for. I don't get it. Why would someone want to protect something so worthless and transient.

Whatever. At least I didn't leave completely empty-handed. That Pike kid told me about a priceless treasure being transported along the railways, and it's due to stop at Midland station at the end of the week. Supposedly, they're screening all potential passengers, so it's gotta be something worth protecting.

Once I get a little more information, I'm going to get on that train and snatch that treasure. Maybe I'll actually make enough Gella to pay back some of my overhead.

job hunting, scammed, memories
