this is lovely, just the sort of effect I've been looking for! Enhance colors, make everything stand out, that is- you have no clue how helpful this is going to be! : ) I tweaked it a bit, though- after I was through with everything you said, I added a copy of the base layer to the very top, and set it to overlay at 50%... then i merged everything, selected and copied, unmerged, and then pasted it and set it to softlight 50% on top of everything.
