Headlock

*pokes LJ* Is it just me or has it gone horribly quiet around here? Guess that's the Christmas season for you, even geeks have lives away from their computers (in theory).

Anyway The Twelve Assorted Days of Fic-mas begins on Saturday because I'm feeling generous like that. I'll be posting the fics people have requested (and some that weren't but got written anyway) one by one every day for... well it won't be twelve days, it'll be until I run out of stuff to post ^__^;; This will include the next chapter of Nile Blue too btw.

And I'm not feeling so great today but as I don't feel like poking at it and seeing what happens, you're getting a meme instead.

Comment and I'll give you a letter; then you have to list 10 things you love that begin with that letter. After, post this in your journal, and give out some letters of your own. Let me know if you want a letter.

1. Squirtle. This one should be obvious - my sister is crazy, talented, beautiful, smart and incredibly patient (with me anyway). I wouldn't have her any other way and am quite willing to loan her out as a sister-substitute for those of you lacking an adequate one of your own. But you can't keep her.

2. Saito. I need to explain this one?

3. September. I'm not a summer-person (this should be obvious to anyone whose every heard me whinging about the weather) and would quite happily pick curled-up-inside-with-a-decent-story-and-a-cup-of-tea over lying-on-a-beach/trying-to-do-anything-when-it's-hot. Call me anti-social or computer-addicted or just plain lazy, but that's what I like. September though... global warming aside, the temperature's usually dropped and although the thick coat's still in the cupboard, there's occasionally mornings with a bit of bite to them. The leaves are beginning to change, things get pretty and it's my Mum's birthday that month (and my parents' wedding anniversary) so that makes it even better.

4. Santa. As in Christmas and presents rather than specifically the old guy with a beard. I wish I was able to be more generous than I am in terms of gifts and so on. I'd love to be able to give something to everyone who matters to me but... yeah, once I’ve made my millions okay?

5. Souta. Aoyama. He loves his Inui juice and is a complete and utter dork and one day my sister intends to marry him - what’s not to like?

6. Sunrises and sunsets. Nothing can beat the colours the sky turns as the sun rises or sets, I could (and have done) stared at sunsets for hours ♥

7. Scarves. Preferably fluffy or velvety ones, I’m accumulating a collection of them and always want more ^__^

8. Stories. Any story regardless of what it’s about, provided it’s told well. Doesn’t matter who it’s by or whether it’s true or complete fiction. Stories make the world go round. They can teach you things you’d never be able to experience in real life, they can make you understand things that seem incomprehensible and they can make you feel more than should be possible. They can be conveyed through any medium you want to pick - printed words or music or film or theatre, anything. And if they were good enough for the Son of God, why not the rest of us?

9. Sano Daiki! Leader-san and his minions the rest of *pnish* always bring a smile to my face. How could I not love them ♥

10. Surprises. ^____^

1. Parents. Okay so they drive me up the wall sometimes, but I feel very, very lucky to have the parents I do. I wouldn’t change a thing about them ♥

2. Pnish! The boys are crazy, talented, insane and utterly wonderful. One day I will manage to see them perform live but until then I’ll just happily fangirl and write fics about them from afar *___*

3. Photographs. I prefer photographs to paintings and as my sporadic picspams will testify, I can not get enough of photos of landscapes, sunsets, mountains, storms, sand dunes and water. If it’s an image I can relate to some fictional place then so much the better ^__^

4. Photobooks. What’s not to love about pages and pages of photos of your favourite idol writhing on a beach/pouting out the window/dressing like a women/stripping off at every given opportunity/playing football with smiling local children/angsting in the shower etc, etc?

5. Purple. My favourite colour - just look at my bedroom ^^;

6. Postcards. Kind of goes with my love of landscapes, photographs and old buildings...

7. Pratchett *worships* Everyone must read Pratchett. It’s as simple as that. If I could write a character half as believable as he writes Vimes I would be very, very happy.

8. Peabody and Emerson. My favourite fictional Egyptologists and their (in the early books) precocious or (in the later books) dashing son Ramses (real name - Walter). Okay so when it stops being about the corpses Amelia keeps stumbling over and becomes more of a sprawling family saga then it does lose something, but they’re still wonderfully daft books.

9. Potter. Love it or loathe it, Harry Potter has taken over the world. Hmm... wonder when book 7 will be out?

10. Pirates of the Caribbean. Utterly insane movie trilogy with the all-conquering Captain Jack Sparrow. Now if only I could over my dislike of Kiera Knightley it’d be perfect.

1. Mum. I'll stop going on about this one eventually, but my Mum's one of the people I admire the most. She's also one of the very, very few people who understands me and unlike most people, she actually makes me feel like what goes on in my head makes sense; the rest of the world just makes me feel like I'm the crazy one rather than the other way around. She puts up with my ramblings, makes the best crumble ever and will always give me a hug when I want one ♥

2. Moriyama Eiji. Re-watching the first musical has today been reminding me why I adore this man. He's sexy and talented and so utterly stupiddorky. While he may not be the world's greatest singer, he can dance and act and do that weird thing where he sits on Wasshi's shoulders and swings Daiki round by his feet... just what are we supposed to call that? and did I mention dance? And he does that thing with his eyebrow and... yes it reduces me to incoherency, I haven't been able to not notice it ever since Becs pointed it out the first time we watched Tenimyu. Oh and he plays Renji and makes those eyebrows look good. End of story.

3. Marmite. Just ask Eli ^_~

4. Mustang. As in Roy Mustang. The first smug bastard I fell for and wanted to write about (Yuki Eiri was first but I never really got into writing Gravi fanfiction).

5. Music. I need it because silence is so boring I end up talking to fill it, even if there's no one else around. It inspires me more than any other medium bar films and I can never have enough.

6. Movies. I don't get to go to the cinema half as much as I'd like, but I avidly follow what's going on in the industry and Empire Film Magazine is my bible (and bedside reading).

7. Mountains. I blame my father for this one though I'm not sure how or why he's passed it on to me. Yes I fangirl landscapes, the more dramatic the better ♥

8. Maes Hughes. One of my other favourite FMA characters. I'm in denial about episode 25 and would rather believe that he decided to make a new life on an island somewhere so as to not endanger any of his loved ones *nods* I want to hug him.

9. Mythology. Specifically the Egyptian variety although I'm not actually fussed what culture it comes from just so long as it has something to do with little people trying to explain big ideas.

10. Musicals. Tenimyu or Burimyu or anything else that Tuti/Nagayan/Moriyama/Daiki/Saito/Kazuki decide to grace with their presence.

memes, life, christmas fics, my weird family
