Eustress: The Good Stress

Psalm 91:2 - I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom i trust"

190 item exams are never easy. The funny thing about grad school is that people always find ways to cope. I think I have been coping well so far. It is really funny that whenever I compare medschool with college, i couldn't help but think about the amount of free time i used to have (and how foolishly i wasted it).

The way i manage my exams is very different from most med students. Most med students do it this way: try to know and memorize as much info as possible from the notes, lecture, trans or book. In my case, it has always been: try to make sense of the information i receive and incorporate it in how i see what truth or reality is. That's what learning is. Information is useless if it just gets stored in your hippocampus. Knowing how the brain works, useless information is usually forgotten. Try to see how it makes sense and is connected to everything else however... then such information will never be forgotten. In doing so however, it will change how you perceive the world (which i think is a good thing for information that doesn't change what you know as truth is useless).

So far, God has been really gracious to me with regards to schooling. So far he has allowed me to cope up with the stresses of YL6 life. He has blessed me with friends who have been very encouraging but at the same time keeps me accountable. He has given me a family that has been very supportive of my endeavors. Sometimes i feel that i have been really spoiled by God since the day i entered into med school. He has provided me with the circumstances, now I know that its my responsibility to make the most of what he has given me.

Side Notes:

I had a great weekend. Spent most of my Saturday with Saki. =) Had WT training in the morning, studied the entire afternoon then attended the youth worship service in the evening. On Sunday, I had a great time spending the day with Najee, Sean, Pauline and Iris (whom i would mistake as Ian with a wig). Watched Franz Kafka's: A Country Doctor and Miyori in the Sacred Forest
