Another week, another update.
I had a pretty eventful weekend for a change which was a nice change of pace. On Saturday we went or a nice long walk again with the dog. Ellie (my amazing but hyper Springer Spaniel) loved running round the fields and just did laps with no encouragement as we had accidentally forgotten her ball. I tried to take some pictures of her but it was very hard for her to keep still, I don’t think see likes being the subject of the paparazzi!
We ended up out for hours which was great and really needed after been cooped up again. I walk her every day but there is nothing like a big blow out walk to blow away the cobwebs.
On Sunday we were supposed to be going to a BBQ for my birthday which was a bit belated as my birthday was three weeks ago. As per typical England rules it had been hot all week but on Sunday it had to be raining and miserable! We ended up eating pizza and salad instead which was just as nice. I got a few nice cards and some spending money which was nice too. For once I wasn’t the designated driver either so I could actually have a drink which was also a nice change.
The week itself has been pretty uneventful though. Had some back pain issues the first half of the week which was fun. I’ve been getting that quite frequently and am beginning to wonder if it has something to do with our bed as the mattress is like a rock and not the most comfortable. I may suggest we think about a new one but no rush.
I’ve been reading a book based on the game The Witcher which has been an interesting read. Its a collection of short stories all based on the main character from the game and adds a lot of back story to the character and the world. It was written by a polish author and translated a few years ago which is something I love. I’ve got quite a collection of foreign translated novels and I find them fascinating and a good incite into the different cultures. If your a fantasy fan I really recommend it. It leads into a series that so far has only been partially translated but I think I will take the plunge as I love epic fantasy series'.
On the writing front all has been going rather well. Out of the blue an idea came to me for a fantasy novel at the beginning of the weekend so I began jotting a few ideas down. The next thing I know I've written like 10 pages of notes about everything from a full break down of the story to world building ideas and character bios. I think this idea has real promise too and I doing my best not to let my usual negativity when it comes to my writing and ideas to bog me down. All I need to do now is flesh out the character bios a little more, start breaking down the chapters and then I think its time to start writing! Its basically your typical fantasy world novel with magic and monsters but I designed this whole magic system which I think is a little different. Its a stand alone story for now but has the potential to be a series if things go well. We will see but I cautiously optimistic. I'm going to try to use my journal as a way to keep me motivated so if you see lots of random posts about writing stuff you will know why :)
