Chanukah Tune and an Iron & Wine Treat!

Dec 02, 2010 08:05

I hope everyone had a lovely evening, whether you were celebrating Chanukah or not. The Boy was still squeeing over his Salvador Dalek T-Shirt when he donned it this morning. Heh, the hand that rocks the cradle, INDEED!

I just love this Sephardic Chanukah song. It's sung in Ladino but if you know any Spanish you'll follow most of it. Yasmin Levy's smoky voice and a tango-ish arrangement made this version my instant favorite. Click on the link to DL.

Ocho Kandalikas (featuring Yasmin Levy), Erran Baron Cohen

Translation:
Beautiful Chanukah is here, eight candles for me.
One candle, two candles, three candles, four candles, five candles, six candles, seven candles, eight candles for me.
Many parties will be held, with joy and with pleasure.
One candle . . .
We will eat pastelikos with almonds and honey.
One candle . .

No, not ALL of the December Treats will be songs downloads but Iron & Wine has a new album coming in January (1/25/2011) and he just pre-released a three song EP from it. Here's the first single...Link is to DL. As always, if you enjoy it please support the artist.
