A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words...

Everyone loves to be in front of a camera, no matter how much they say they don't. It's a good time to capture silly memories, stupid memories, memories of any kind. Plus, they're great blackmail, just kidding. There's definitely more than one picture of me in my ridiculous halloween costumes floating around this planet, and each time I see one, I crack up. So here's today's nice thing.

Give a fun picture to a friend

So today's nice thing is relatively easy. It can be done for anyone with pretty much minimal cost. A little time may be involved, but it all depends on your circumstance.

Look through the pictures on your camera, or computer, or wherever you keep them. Go to a store like Wal-Mart, Target, or any other place that has those photo kiosks that you can bring your digital pictures to. This works particularly well when you have a funny/cute/weird picture of the person you're giving it to. It also is great when someone may be a little down and they just need a little pick me up. I'll share my story later. Anyway, get the picture developed. You don't even need to get a frame, but sometimes it's nice, depending on what you feel like doing and deliver it to said friend. Even if they aren't home you can leave the envelope, with their name on it, outside of their door. With the advent of the digital camera, it seems like less people have the physical photo. So like a handwritten letter, it's something nice to receive every now and then.

Here's my little story. So today is my birthday, the big 25. As my friend Becca says, I am now a speed limit. A quarter of a century old. Wow. Anyway, so Becca and I went to dinner last night. We went to one of favorite beer and burger places here in good ol' Richmond. And it was delicious. However, my favorite thing from the night was her gift. A scrapbook. Now, for those of you who know me personally, you probably have determined by looking at pictures of me online or in my place, I don't take a whole lot of nice normal pictures. The pictures that I have are of me or my friends being weird and kooky. Yes, I said kooky. Anyway, as I looked through this book, I just felt more and more excited. There were not only pictures of me, but of my friends, gatherings, events we've had, weird strange pictures, and just pictures that made me smile. Plus, she but several Juli-isms in as well since I like to say things like "All things in life are improved by gin, wait, I mean Lime!" and other things of that nature. I didn't care what type of book it was or how much time she spent, but I loved the fact that I have all of these wonderful pictures of my friends, who really are my family. Plus, I move in just over a month and can take it with me and remember all the wonderful people I met while living here. Plus, when I move back, it will be that much more worth it.

So while a picture is just something small, it can really put a big smile on someone's face.

Have a NICE day!
